Sorry the study hurt your feelings or whatever but it was carried out by people with actual PhD's in science and psychology.

Are smart people not allowed to curse? That seems to be your argument, that since the word bull# it used so many times that automatically means the study is bull#.

Not really sure how that's logical but go for it.

Also, I don't recall reading them singling out "informative conspiracy memes" as the basis for the study. Care to quote that certain portion of the article or study?

Okay, dude,

Scientific Link Found Between Low IQ And Bull# Internet Memes

Memes are low information meaning they appeal to low information or low intelligence people.

Posting a political meme isn't funny except to the simple-minded. Want actual humor? Watch George Carlin or Joe Rogan, that's real political humor, not this children's storybook crap.

You real quick reached for a counter study to the goes without saying premise that 'humor IQ' is a sign of higher intelligence concept I brought into the discussion (where you were effectively calling us a bunch of morons).

And oh my you found one real quick and ran with it even though it wasn't even remotely in the context of the discussion (of HUMOR).

A new study has found that people who have a low intelligence are more likely to believe in “pseudo-profound bull$hit” (their words, not ours), and that includes liking and sharing inane meaningless unproven memes on social media.

While the report criticises what it terms “conspiracy theories”, it acknowledges that pseudo-profound bull# are statements that make very little sense in the real world, and have no basis in science. Unfortunately, the conspiracy arena seems to be more saturated with this kind of nonsense than any other.

And even after multiple posts now I've given you the chance to slow your roll, you're going to show off how intelligent you are by quadrupling down with it.

Wait wait wait, lets not forget you're also showing off how you're the "enlightened one" by crapping all over everybodys dark humor good times in here.

You're the man yo!!!!

Emotionally Stable People Enjoy Morbid Humor
Well, don’t be. People who appreciate gallows humor tend to be smarter, better-educated, and better emotionally adjusted than most.

That’s the conclusion of a newly published study from Austria. A research team led by neurologist Ulrike Willinger of the Medical University of Vienna reports appreciating black humor “seems to be a complex information-processing task,” one that is facilitated by high intelligence and inhibited by bad moods.
...
To the researchers’ surprise, those who liked the cartoons most, and found them easiest to comprehend, demonstrated high levels of intelligence, tended to be well-educated, and had the “lowest values regarding mood disturbance and aggression.

Your study, about humor, right"

“These results indicate that our participants largely failed to detect that the statements are bullsh*t,” write Pennycook and his team.

NOPE!

And what irony its effectively about people incapable of spotting 'fake news', and here you're not even capable of discerning whether or not that paper in the context of the debate you came in here begging for would amount to BS or not.

So your comeback -while sticking to your assertion that the piece isn't BS herein- was to assert that I'm calling usage of profanity to be the realm of stupidity.

NOPE again.

Unless it's the most used word in a science paper, then yes that to me screams of unprofessionality and thus strikes me as being BS.

If you could hear me in real life, you wouldn't believe how tame I am in here, actually.

Intelligent People Use More Swear Words, According To Study
"A voluminous taboo lexicon may better be considered an indicator of healthy verbal abilities rather than a cover for their deficiencies," the researchers wrote. "Speakers who use taboo words understand their general expressive content as well as nuanced distinctions that must be drawn to use slurs appropriately. The ability to make nuanced distinctions indicates the presence of more rather than less linguistic knowledge, as implied by the POV [Poverty of Vocabulary] view."

But the bigger reason I'm calling BS on your study is, it looks to me like just another hitpiece on people who think outside the box (aka "conspiracy theorists" [which is a CIA/MSM invented derogatory word for anyone who doesnt buy into all their BS hook line and sinker when just about everything they say is or is loaded with BS, and everything they're socially engineered US to believe is a diabolical farce]).

That's right, I insist people who lap up MSM / .gov LIES are the real "low information" (low IQ) morons of this world. You know, the sorts who go insane and derail humor threads because people are insulting their MSM politicians with dastardly internet memes; who when hard hitting criminal scale dirt comes out on their MSM politicians they knee jerk assert its 'kooky conspiracy nutter bs' (even in a conspiracy forums) etc. Here on this scale o' mine: the sorts of people who throw epic saga level temper tantrums to the degrees of rioting for months even years when their favored MSM (Ruling Establishment puppet) politicians dont get their way, these would be about the most mentally retarded types -whom get into politics- that I could think of.

I'm not outraged just disappointed in what this place has turned/is turning into. Like I said, this crap wouldn't have flown a few years ago on this site, this isn't the kind of content this site was created for.

This place is becoming like Facebook, fake news and memes, that's all except for a few actual gems here and there.

Did someone say facebook?

How is posting memes and "pseudo-intellectual bull#" equivalent to "thinking outside the box"? There is a difference between rational conspiracy theories and irrational ones, low IQ people usually latch onto the irrational ones, e.g. "Hillary is dead" or "Obama has a fake birth certificate", etc. And believe me, there are plenty of dumb ones about Trump too. Stupidity is alive and well on both sides of the fence.

Also, what is "morbid" or "black" about this thread? You may want to look up the definition of morbid and black humor because this thread is neither of those things, not even close.

And of course you would take the study as a hit-piece on you, it says things you don't like, you're just using your defense mechanisms. I can't really blame you there, it's only natural.

Now calmly reread my piece there. And maybe just maybve you're "high information" enough to realize how bad you're making yourself look pushing on when that study isn't even within the context you brought it in for.

PS: I have a pretty good hunch this applies to you, and it's actually in the context you've dug yourself into here if you're slick enough to grasp what I mean:

circa 2006. Really need to adapt it over for SJW's, and so many other ideologue types....

To take one out of your playbook: "you wouldn't believe how tame I am in here, actually." No need for a paper bag.

Again, what about this thread is "morbid" or "black" humor? There's nothing morbid or black about the humor being used in this thread. It isnt making light of dead people (morbid) nor is it talking about anything taboo (black).

And your edit to your previous post (people lapping up MSM/govt. LIES) kinda applies to the OP of this thread and even you.

Who are the ones who constantly "lap up" the MSM stories and lies? The ones who constantly post about them on forums such as these. The constant watch on the MSM narrative on these boards is proof that this place has turned into a haven for low IQ people by your very own definition.

Since you possess no sense of humor, writing a treatise on humor in general let alone dark humor would be an entirely pointless effort. But I'll play nice and give you a quick crash course anyways!

Note that Dark Humor isn't merely just dead baby esque jokes.

While humor in general is itself a sign of higher intelligence.

Joke-Telling Robots Are the Final Frontier of Artificial Intelligence
Humor requires self-awareness, spontaneity, linguistic sophistication, and empathy. Not easy for a robot.
...
We have clearly been psyching ourselves up for joke-compatible computers for a long time, so it's no wonder that real AI researchers are on the case. Some specialists even see humor as the final frontier for artificial intelligence, because it requires mastery of sophisticated functions like self-awareness, empathy, spontaneity, and linguistic subtlety.

Of course, therein lies the challenge. "Anything that is inherently human is always very difficult to translate into a computer," Julia Taylor, a professor at Purdue Polytechnic and an expert on computational humor, told me over the phone.

"From the psychological point of view, we are not quite sure what it takes," she said. "What kind of sense of humor will people have? What is appropriate; what is not appropriate? Maybe today, you will appreciate joke X but two days from now, you won't appreciate it anymore. What are the characteristics of this appreciation? What is it that is going to make us find something funny or not?"

While the 'dark' humor (which this thread in actuality is loaded with) is more to the point of 'stable emotions' (i.e. being 'enlightened) is why I underscored that one for you personally.

Psychologists from the Medical University of Vienna studied people's reactions to sick jokes, from a cartoon book called The Black Book by Uli Stein.

The researchers defined dark humour as 'a kind of humour that treats sinister subjects like death, disease, deformity, handicap or warfare with bitter amusement and presents such tragic, distressing or morbid topics in humorous terms'.

Comedians like Daniel Dwight Tosh and Frankie Boyle, along with films like Pulp Fiction all use examples of dark humour.

The researchers found this kind of sense of humour is a mark of intelligence.

'Black humour preference and comprehension are positively associated with higher verbal and nonverbal intelligence as well as higher levels of education,' the authors wrote in the study, published in the journal Cognitive Processing. www.dailymail.co.uk...

Note that I personally class political humor, particularly of the offensive varieties -especially when tackling harsh topics- as "Dark Humor". My own personal brand appeals to gritty hybrid senses of cynicism, satire, sarcasm, vulgarity (although in here I have to get creative with strong substitutional words), and more, typically delivered with diabolical punchlines and an evil sh!t eating grin. But that's me personally.

It isn't just some singular 'thing', except perhaps in the minds of humorless simpletons.

How many people would challenge that notion? Start a thread about it, it'd be a hoot!

Oh, I do have a sense of humor but I don't find overused memes that all basically say the same thing being used over and over all that funny. Different strokes for different folks I guess but like I've said before, this kind of thread wouldn't have flown a couple of years ago. This place used to be held to a higher standard intellectually. These kinds of threads are only adding to the degradation of this forums' quality.

There is nothing intelligent about this thread, you trying to say otherwise is quite comical in itself. No matter how you try to spin it this thread is full of low information posts that have no substance whatsoever and is far from being intellectually stimulating in any way.

Thank you for contributing most of the content to this low information and low IQ thread. There's nothing black about the humor here. There is nothing taboo (black) about making fun of Hillary or Trump so I don't know where you are getting your definitions from.

Clearly, since Hillary memes trigger you and half the politically minded world to the point of derailing threads where people were just trying to have a laugh, to even the degree of rioting, that alone places political memes firmly in the territory of offensive.

Politics, being the raw stuff of political science, is an intelligent realm of topics where each 'locale' within comes loaded with exotic information, and all sorts of specialty innuendo & references, especially in the likes of ATS (that takes the level of the full scale of sophistication in our little neck of the web to even higher degrees than se mainstream doosh land spots like in se Tumblr).

Just because stupid people also participate in humor, and politics, doesn't change these facts. And just because you dont like humor doesnt mean its stupid, or funny.

So to swoop in and label everyone bunch of morons, with every meme they're posting in the thread as crap moronic grade humor, itsn't merely rude, its asserting yourself to be better / more intelligent than everyone. This isn't merely implying it, or demonstrated it, its loudly screaming it while insulting everyone.

All the while beating on your chest how you're the bastion of high intelligence / high quality forums standards, is some kind of sick sense of humor, I will admit!!!!
