This is the result of government dependency, not of cuts. To leave the caring of family members to the government, and worse, to show indignation when that government can no longer do it, only reveals how little one cared in the first place.

And if they don't have families?

Why don't you go do it? Since you care so much.

Already doing it. But there's too many of them.
You?

Then what's the problem?

Hmm. You appear to have missed the second sentence.

Does this also apply to 80, 90+ year old vets who've outlived both descendants and retirement savings? If anyone should get a free & clear pass for fed help, it's the folks of all walks who've outlived family & money combined and have nothing & no one left to fall back on.

I'd be interested in the questions regarding people with no realistic family support.
# them I guess, just die, useless peice of entitled #.
...sounds harsh to me though.

Pretty much the attitude of some people here.

We should get the debt up another 10 trillion first.
Then we will make some cuts.
Keep me updated on the death toll from this, I'm sure it will be millions.

Dividing the number of people in the country by the number of old, sick, or impoverished proves there is no such problem.

Do you support tax funded fire and rescue dervices or condemn them?
Do you support or condemn tax funded services which keep folk alive generally?

And yet there's still problem.
Now what?

It includes everyone. If you feel it is the government's duty to take care of your family and communities, then it isn't the government letting them die.

Do you let a fire burn until the fire truck shows up? Do you leave the rescuing of others to the rescue services?

This would be non issue if we didn't have millions of illegals bankrupting our gov assistance programs. This is the cost of allowing our immigration laws to go unenforced for decades. Isn't this what a lot of you have been asking for?

Who utterly fail to see how they're merely rooting for future treatment of themselves. You can plan your elder years as best possible, but you can't predict exactly how long you'll live, nor how much inflation will rise & make your nice nest egg today look pitiful & lazy in 40 years' time.

Oops. Guess we should just leave the future elderly posting here today to rot in due time, since they were too stupid to plan right, even though they'll claim they did their best. They wanted people treated that way when they were younger, so it seems fitting for them to expect to reap what they sowed.

Don't lamely deflect, I thought better of you, honestly.
Do you advocate fire & rescue services should be funded by taxes in states where they are currently?
Smells socialist as # to me.

Well this goes hand and hand with the GOP's healthcare plan for the elderly.
1.Don't get sick.
2. If you get sick die quickly.

I got news for you Buster.....was recent in the hospital for a few days back a few years ago and listening to folks argue with Dr about how Obama care was spozed to save someone that smoked all their life. And thats what they were telling the family.......we will make them as comfi as we can

Do you support or condemn free meals for your old folk?
Don't be a weasel.
I support tax funded food for vulnerable old people.

I find Socratic irony to be indicative of a weasel, especially especially when the weasel isn't very good at it.

Good for you. But I find that to be an excuse to do nothing.

With the seriously nation disabling debt that we have, next of kin should be made by law to assume these cost in 90% of cases. I mean if you really want to protect the future. Set up special care courts or something to sort this out. If there are a number of next of kin then they pitch in.
