I know this story is for somebody out there on ATS. Something told me to post this, for somebody who is about to give up BUT before you do read this:

Ten years ago this month, I started the day by getting on my face before God and saying, “Lord, I’m getting down on the floor because if I get up, I’m afraid I’ll do something stupid.”

I had good reason to be concerned. I was a single man who was making poor choices left and right. And although my closest friends were trying to help me get back on track, if they weren’t around, I started itching to make additional foolish decisions.

The morning I prostrated myself on the floor before God was no exception and I felt helpless. I was my own worst enemy. When I finally got up, I took out my journal and wrote a prayer. I told God that I knew I was living through one of the darkest hours of my life, and the scariest part was that I was starting to like the darkness. I ended the prayer by writing, “Jesus, if You ever loved me, please send help now.”

My heart remained heavy that day, as it had been for weeks. I had always been such an optimistic person, but for the first and only time in my life, I wondered if I might be better off dead. I couldn’t trust myself. Plus, because of some of the choices I had made, I felt unworthy, unlovable, and undeserving of marriage, which I had hoped for since I was a child.

Despite my depression and an intense storm that ripped through the city, I decided to go to a hat-themed dance party at a friend’s house that night. While I appeared to be having a good time in my Panama Jack beach hat, I was aching with shame. But then, shortly after the party started, my whole life changed. The front door opened, and an unusually attractive woman walked in. She had dark brown hair, dark skin, brown eyes; and she was wearing a red, velvet cowboy hat with white, fuzzy trim. I kept my eye on her, waiting for her to find her date. She didn't. Instead, she moved to the edge of the dance floor and looked slightly uncomfortable standing by herself, so I came over and introduced myself. We struck up a conversation, during which I discovered that she was deeply committed to Jesus, which made me doubt she would even be interested in a damaged believer like me.

Even so, I took her number at the end of the night and wondered if anything would come of our conversation. Within a week, we went on our first date. Within six weeks, we were madly infatuated with each other. Within four months, we were engaged. Within nine months, we were married. Nine years later, we’re still happily married. In a Moment Maybe you’re going through a dark time right now. Maybe it seems like all is lost. Maybe you’ve failed big time, and it feels like all the momentum in your life is headed in a negative direction. It can turn around in a moment.

Maybe you feel disconnected from God. Maybe your most significant relationships lie in shambles. Maybe you’re sick and tired and hardly have the energy to pray. It can turn around in a moment. Maybe you’re tired of crying until your head hurts. Maybe you’re right on the verge of throwing it all away because your life seems meaningless. I’m telling you: It can turn around in a moment. The Lord stands ready to answer the desperate prayer, “Jesus, if You ever loved me, please send help now.” You may be too disoriented to immediately recognize His answer in the pain, but His name is Comforter, Helper, Advocate, Friend, Counselor; and you can trust that He is responding. He is providing. No matter how you feel right now, He is your “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1), and He is more than able to turn it all around for your good (Romans 8:28). Give Him a chance. Cry out to Him. You never know -- He may just turn things around in a moment.

LINK

His prayer was answered the same day..... maybe yours will be too BUT if not then wait for it. This can happen with you too, your problems can be wiped away in a moment. Do NOT surrender, do not give up, ask and you shall receive though the answer given might not be what you thought you wanted but turns to a blessing.

Does anyone have such an uplifting story to share?

When our wants and desires become more important than our needs, we tumble down in life. I know so many people who get hooked on money, they will get a job they hate or where they have to work way more just to pay for their wants. They then go out and buy more of what they do not need and go farther into debt, they try to play bigshot in the eyes of others. They judge their worth on how much money they make, not on how good a person they are.

Then you have the people who want to feel good while screwing other people on their way up the ladder and they donate money to charities, choosing the most popular ones. Now the popular ones are often the most corrupt, the money goes to line the pockets of people already making good money, not to help the needy person themselves. Vinnies and the food bank are two good organizations to support. Remember, when you donate money to pay someone's doctors bills or for cancer research, who actually benefits by that money.

There are good charities out there other than the two I mentioned though. I know this part is off topic, but I feel it is important because changing your life means you will help others more, do it right, help them to not get sick. I do not study what I do to help myself, I study it because so many friends are starting to get sick. I do not care if I die, I just do not want to suffer much before I die, I already put in my five years or more of extreme suffering caused in part by some people with good intent trying to help treat me with meds. I guess you have to go through hell sometimes to realize what the light is.

I believe every word in the OP.

I have had a VERY blessed life even though I am dying from cancer. We all die and soon enough it will be my time

I have lived three full lives within the 58 years I have lived and whether you want to believe me or not that is OK but I MUST give all credit to God.

I do not have money or a fancy car but I have one of the greatest families anyone could ever want. My six year old grandson ask me today about God and I asked him why did he want to know and he looked me straight in the eyes and said with confidence, "Because one day I want to teach my children about God". Ever see a bad ass cry like a baby? (well I use to be a bad ass a long time ago) It still tears me up!

I have been shown many things.....and I wish everyone could see what I have seen and I know there are MANY who have seen even more....than I.

Do not give up...your blessings are coming. Some blessings come right away while others take more time.

Be patient....

Charity is VERY important it shows the love inside a man's heart.

We ALL should think more about our neighbor's and those who are in more need then we are.

Ah, the beauty of the human soul. Excellent thoughts that appear to be independent and that are formed by simply watching the world around you.

I see you neighbor and salute.

I am starting the journey of helping out a dear friend of 20+ years that just got served divorce papers. He is unhealthy because of poor eating habits and is medicated with pain pills and steroids, to the point he was unable to work for a while. I will attempt to heal his body, independent of pharmaceuticals, through healthy eating so he can get a job again to start supporting himself. I will house and feed him for as long as it takes to get him back on the path of happiness. I will seek no compensation for this and refuse any attempt at payment. Why? Simply for the good karma and appreciation of his friendship over the years.

Not an uplifting story, but a poem.

"God's word can be false or misconstrued

tainted psalms can be falsely imbued

Life if suffering for many far and wide

So I ask God, why does suffering abide?

-Cake, five minutes ago

Ask the citizens of Sodom, God smote them for being gay or promiscous but isn't gay people his creation?

I'm sorry but It's hard to find an uplifting story about a hypocritical god.

I love God. But I hate authority. What am I to do?????

Romans 13Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

A Christian’s Duties to the State
13 Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. 2 So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. 4 For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. 5 Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath but also because of your conscience. 6 And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks.[a] 7 Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.

"the authorities that exist are instituted by God"

??? EFF THAT!!!!

Inspiring story Deathslayer ... and these types of stories are important to share.

Once at a very low point in my life , I was on a bus heading home from a place I had tried to make my new home but for varying reasons had not worked out. I was young, scared at the prospect of being jobless, broke and a disappointment to my parents.

In the midst of all these tumultuous feelings I decided to pray to Jesus.. quietly in my heart. After the prayer as I turned to look out the bus window I was surprised to see a lit up cross that appeared to be floating in the sky. In actuality it was a reflection of a church cross in the bus window.

It gave me peace to see it and it felt like Jesus was telling me everything would be ok, and to just trust in him.

I called a Christian friend when I got to the bus depot .. and started attending church shortly after... Everything turned out for the best as I'm not sure I would have had the spiritual support I actually needed where I was.

I have other stories OP, but they would be lengthy to explain so I'll just leave it to this small story that really did change the course of my life at the time.

I am an imperfect Christian today .. but will always rely on grace and forgiveness to start over in a better way.

You got a hard road ahead with this, the steroids have a bad effect on things if a person cannot detox them properly. Taking pain meds for a long time actually boosts the enzymes that breaks natural pain suppression chemistry down and leads to needing more after a while. It also can deplete the chemistry in the brain and body that actually relieves the pain, the meds often trigger the release of the natural pain relieving chemistry in the head, so if there becomes a shortage in the elements that form the morphine like chemistry, then there is a shortage of pain relief.

There are natural ways to fix this, but when a person has been on these for a while, it may be more difficult to correct the problem.

Deceivers actually love to target Christians though, they like the money from their desire to help others. That is the problem with most of the non-profits out there. It is like the Vatican being infested with pedifiles, good will often attracts scam artists. I believe in helping others but I like to do it in ways that actually really help the people. I see a lot of people starting go fund me pages to help a friend with a disease in which they will definitely be dying. Now the money is going to get specialists to treat the person, many thousands of dollars paid to doctors who will not increase the person's chance of getting better, the cancer is terminal. If the treatment actually cured the disease, then the patient is getting the benefit, but often the disease has gone to far and throwing money at it to cure it is wasted but lines the pockets of the doctors. I knew someone who's daughter just had cancer and it was terminal, she chose to stop the chemotherapy, it would only prolong her misery. The doctor did not want to stop, but the chemo drugs were destroying her daughter, enough is enough.

Ah, but I enjoy a challenge. It wouldn't mean much if it was easy. Since he will no longer have medical benefits there is no choice but to give up those harmful drugs. Sometimes for a person to make it through the difficult stages in life, they have to embrace the pain and become one with it.

Any chance he could compensate this with a low level reconfiguration of the amygdala?

Alpha oscillation neurofeedback modulates amygdala complex connectivity and arousal in posttraumatic stress disorder

Or maybe a little TUS - Transcranial Ultrasound to induce bliss states.

If he is sensitive to sound manipulation then maybe a little Binaural Beat will work wonders.

You may know more than I about this but nevertheless will offer you what I believe. You say you are dying from a cancer and in that statement you also say you are a mere 58 years old.

You need not answer this but you should look very strongly at Hemp seed oil and the proper strength to cure your cancer. If your state allows marijuana then that is somewhat better than Hemp seed oil but both are very effective in the cure when used properly. Look into this matter very quickly and live a much longer and stronger life. Your story may be for yourself my friend. Be sure you have the correct strength and dosage. At times one can be blessed in giving a blessing.

I have good luck with eating soup made with a good cartilaginous beef soup bone for killing pain. The property is in the cartilage and also in the bone. A little cabbage in the soup helps it calm more. The thing is that soup bones are really cheap and you get a big pot of soup for under ten bucks.

I tried using magnesium to control my epilepsy, and it worked, but there was a lot of inflammation in my left arm, so I abandoned that as a standalone treatment and ate some beef soup. The pain went away.

Another thing that got rid of my back pain was I ground up some beef heart and made a meatloaf. The sore back I had for a long time disappeared within the first day, I ate the whole meatloaf and I started getting the soreness back in about four days. I tried it again in about a month, I just had a hamburger made from some and again the pain disappeared that day and it lasted for three days before the back pain slowly start coming back. I have no idea why that works. I do have an idea though, the heart is always beating, no rest and it does not get sore....why does it not get sore like the muscles? Could it be that it has a special pain relieving chemistry associated with it? I don't know the answer why, I just know it works. When I got my half cow, the guy I bought it from had lots of hearts, he gave me extras and I do grind them and make meatloaf once in a while. I could even add it to hamburger, they used to add a little heart to hamburger years ago in the stores.

This is just my thing, but I do NOT believe God is some old dude who grants wishes. I apparently dont believe in the same god as modern xtians, do not label myself as a xtian, and ridicule some things concerning xtianity. Thats mainly because the God I completely and totally believe in and fear is the I Am. I believe in Jesus as the Christ, but not this poor dopey sap running around letting folks slap him and hollering about love. Most xtians wouldnt know love for their fellow humans if it fell out of the sky on their faces and wiggled. They hate a lot though, thinking their hate is justified and "godlike". They forgot to read the NT even though they claim to follow a christ. Ive seen them on here and in real life displaying the most arrogant brand of hatred for everything they disagree with and use the bible as their shield... it wont protect them. Id rather deal with an honest luciferian than a modern xtian pseudo puritan hypocrite.

I dont have all of the answers, no one does, but I am a long time student of many religions and belief systems. This God is what I came to know as the one God above others. If given a lie detector test I could not deny my singular and complete belief and fear of this God. I also do not pray for favors or wishes... I ONLY pray for mercy and a sovereign Gods decision. I think Xtians turn so many away.. due to their godly words and lifestyle. No one can respect or worship or fear a God who is such a neutered dope like the modern xtian god.

Thank you very much for that advice. I try to live by a ketogenic diet, which he is about to adopt
, so I have to make all of my chicken and beef stocks from scratch. I have a freezer full of grass fed beef bones that I will start using in earnest. I will have to search out some organs as well based on your experience.

I kind of feel guilty in a way because it feels like a science experiment. He was so bad at one time he had a feeding bag to get nutrients into his system. Hopefully he won't make a run for it.
