I found this headline hard to believe. But John kelly, Homeland Security Sec said the threat is worse than most realize.

DHS chief: If you knew what I knew about terror, you’d ‘never leave the house’

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly on Friday said the terror threat is worse than most realize, saying some people would "never leave the house" if they knew the truth.

“I was telling [Fox host] Steve [Doocy] on the way in here, if he knew what I knew about terrorism, he’d never leave the house in the morning,” Kelly said on “Fox & Friends.”

He noted there were four major terror attacks in the last week — in England, Egypt, the Philippines and Indonesia — "by generally the same groups."

Thank goodness for the DHS, the PATRIOT act, and all the mass info gathering from emails, texts and phone calls.

Yes, how much safer we are! I bet more war in the M.E. and spying on us will fix it don't you?

Sigh...
This makes me want to put my Gear VR on and just stay there!

This actually is true. I knew someone who knows and told me that we have no idea how many terrorist plots are thwarted constantly in this country.

More fear-mongering. More reason for them to try to justify increased militarization of the police, security checkpoints, illegal spying and chipping away at the rights of the citizens.

I'm so tired of all the terror rhetoric.

"Be afwaid people, be vewy afwaid"

As Lemmy sanf in a song, "I don't believe a word"

And like a poster above me said, "I've got yer ass covered."

No, just no and no again. Most terrorists are domestic. Sorry, I ain't biting

I leave the house comfortably each day, and I'm not terrified or dead.

Weird.

Sounds to me he needs to lose his job if he's that scared. Because the question becomes what are you doing about it?? I don't want someone who's scared making decisions

His statements are just the latest in the constant drum beat of threats that are made against the US. I wonder how many threats there were in 1990, 2000, 2010.

In other words is this out of the ordinary?

I had a friend that worked at SouthCom some years ago.

He pretty much had the same comment.

Kelly sounds like a real ass.
Nothing like trying to justify your 40,000 person strong department...

I think I feel LESS safe flying now than 20 years ago.

Come on you take your shoes off and get felt up by a pissed off DHS personnel, maybe get a special interview with another pissed off interviewer if they don't like the way you pack your SH.

This is going to make you safer, the best medicine always tastes horrible. Right?
