Here's my list:
1. Life and How to Live It--R.E.M.

In a nutshell, it's about a guy with mental issues who divides his house into two halves so that when he gets tired of one half he can live in the other. When the guy died they found a bunch of copies of a book he had written and had published: "Life: How to Live."

2. Tojo--The Hoodoo Gurus

About Cyclone Tracy that devastated the Australian city of Darwin in 1974. The people of Darwin had evidently dreaded an invasion by Tojo of the Japanese military in World War II. Tojo never arrived even after all that worry, but Cyclone Tracy hammered Darwin and nearly destroyed it during the Christmas season.

3. Savoy Truffle--The Beatles

About George Harrison warning Eric Clapton away from a box of candies lest he get tooth decay. "You have to have them all pulled out after the Savoy Truffle."

4. Pictures of Lily--The Who

About a boy who likes looking at (apparently) pornographic photos of a model from the 1920's.

5. King of the Road--Roger Miller

About a hobo that likes living that way.

6. Semi-charmed Life--Third Eye Blind

About a couple taking meth.

7. I Don't Like Mondays--The Boomtown Rats

It's about about a teenager named Brenda Spencer, who went on a shooting spree at an elementary school in San Diego in 1979. When asked why she did it she replied, "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day."

8. The Way--Fastball

About a couple that disappeared on the way to a festival. They were later found dead in their vehicle, still strapped in their seats, at the bottom of a ravine. They were hundreds of miles off course.

9. Heart Shaped Box--Nirvana

About kids with cancer.

10. Brown Sugar--The Rolling Stones

This one should already be well-known. It's about the nasty old slave days and having sex with black female slaves.

Concrete Blonde - Tomorrow Wendy

About a young lady whose life fell apart after the manufacturing jobs left her town. Turned to drugs and prostitution as a life style choice. She got AIDS. Despondent and depressed, she pens a letter to God expressing her doubts and pains. The next day she stands up for herself and lives the life she wants to live by committing suicide. That is the true story of events behind the lyrics.

For years after, people would still get upset because, "it is anti-Christian and glorifies suicide," according to them. I see it as empowerment and a warning sign to live your life because you never know what is going to happen.

New Model Army - Ballad of Bodmin Pill

A nice upbeat song about being scared and afraid to live life.

Chorus:
We are lost, we are freaks,
we are crippled, we are weak...
we are the heirs, we are the true heirs to all the world.

We are all damaged in some way (some more than others) but we are here. Now. You are not alone. It is "we".

Plus others, I'm sure, but those two stand out right at this moment.

"I'm Henery the Eighth, I Am" by Herman's Hermits.

Dude, named "Henry", married a widow that had 7 former husbands named Henry. Never a Willie or a Sam.

I'm really surprised that this case was never featured in a true crime documentary. Really. Henry needs to check his food for poison, and sleep with one eye open...

Just sayin...
