Rumsfeld Weapons of Mass Destruction and other Iraq/911 BS.

You mean the weapons that existed? Every agency in the world had intel of their existence. Some believed Iraq was YEARS away from nuclear weapons, and most thought it was possible within 10 years (so we could now have a Nuclear Iraq).

The intel was intentionally overstated by Saddam, but the weapons did exist, just in fewer quantities than expected. But that was not Bush or the US, that was Iraq intentionally getting the intel out, and Saddam himself thinking he had more than he had due to his subordinates lying to him. Still, the weapons did indeed exist to some extent.

The official, James Clapper Jr., a retired lieutenant general, said satellite imagery showing a heavy flow of traffic from Iraq into Syria, just before the U.S. invasion in March, led him to believe that illicit weapons material "unquestionably" had been moved out of Iraq.

The weapons ended up in Syria and other places.

KOPPEL: Let's go back — actually, we haven't gone to it at all yet, but let's just quickly go to the subject of weapons of mass destruction. You write in your book that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak told you Saddam has weapons of mass destruction. You write that …

FRANKS: Actually, biologicals, right.

KOPPEL: Biologicals. You write that King Abdullah of Jordan told you the, Saddam has and will use weapons of mass destruction.

FRANKS: That his intelligence services had given that to him too.

KOPPEL: Yeah.

FRANKS: Yes, that's correct.

the German Federal Intelligence Service held the bleakest view of all, arguing that Iraq might be able to build a nuclear weapon within three years. Israel, Russia, Britain, China, and even France held positions similar to that of the United States; France's President Jacques Chirac told Time magazine last February, "There is a problem—the probable possession of weapons of mass destruction by an uncontrollable country, Iraq. The international community is right ... in having decided Iraq should be disarmed." In sum, no one doubted that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

LoL. Okay, I didn't know that we're now accepting the whole "weapons of mass destruction" as a reason to go war with Iraq was now considered valid, because, you know, Rumsfeld socked it to the ladies of The View!
