The man suspected of masterminding a co-ordinated group of deadly suicide bombings in Riyadh in May has surrendered to the authorities in Saudi Arabia, Saudi officials have said.

I'm intrigued by this story.
I can't work out why he would "give himself up".

Everything I've read indicates that the Saudi authorities don't have the most liberal interrogation or justice system in the world.
Logically, this guy has served his own death warrant. He's probably in for a lot of pain before that too.



Unless there is a lot more to this than meets the eye?

Maybe they've "turned" him?
Or maybe by saying he "gave himself up", it's a psychological ploy by the Saudis to trick other members of his organisation into doing the same?
