Julian Assange: Sweden drops investigation against Wikileaks founder based in Ecuador's London embassy

Sweden has dropped its investigation against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, prosecutors have announced.

The country's director of public prosecutions, Marianne Ny, said the preliminary rape and sexual assault probe has been discontinued.

An interesting turn of events to say the least. I am curious as to what the reason for discontinuing the investigation is.

Any wagers on whether or not he is arrested once he steps foot outside the embassy for charges in other countries?

Julian Assange: Sweden drops rape investigation

Sweden's director of public prosecutions has decided to drop the rape investigation into Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

The move comes ahead of a Stockholm court's examination of a demand by Mr Assange's lawyers that Sweden drop his European arrest warrant.

The investigation is dropped however it looks like the arrest warrant is still active...

Hell Manning got out this week and now this!

Excellent news and well needed in this time of chaos and lies...

As you said though, he had better be damn careful, he is hands down the #1 enemy of Clinton!

Worth noting, they have a live feed of the embassy on RT.

It has been far too long since we have seen him at that window!

would he still be in trouble with the UK for breaching his bail conditions for seeking asylum in the Ecuador embassy?

Çould be a ploy to get him easier. If he leaves the embassy, he is an easier target for the scum that do want him. If I was him, i would be very worried leaving the embassy.

Reuters is reporting a request was made by Swedish prosecutors to drop his detention order.

Assange will not be allowed to live a free/normal life.
He is one of the biggest threats to the power players

Sweden had no choice. The US have proven time and time again they will kill threats without warrants or a care in the world.

Assange may walk out of the embassy door, but he will be killed not long after.

www.bbc.com...

looks like the Swedish prosecution did not think they would come out favourable from this examination?

Apparently yes - source

British police said before the announcement that Assange is still wanted in Britain for jumping bail. It is not clear if that may change now that the investigation has been dropped.

I hope so but as a poster above said, it could be a honey trap.

I don't profess to know much about British and euro law but I think time spent in the embassy is more than enough punishment for breach of bail.
