Mainly because folks like yourselves decide you want it and force the rest of us along. I always vote against it.

Capitalism isn't intended to bring about paradise; it is intended to allow those individuals who work toward success to achieve their goals. Often times that work is hard with challenges to overcome. Those who are self entitled, or disparage working hard will be at odds with capitalism. It promises nothing, especially not other people's labors and earnings.

Capitalism looks great on paper, but for some reason it always turns into socialism.

That is because there are always those people who feel entitled to the fruits of other peoples labor and initiative. If it weren't for people that are afraid to embrace personal responsibility the societal creep towards socialism could be eliminated.

Only if you relocate yourself to the free market capitalist paradise of your choosing... oh wait... that place doesn't exist either does it?

We know how you think by this other gem in the recent thread below - you want your own unfettered access to freebies, bad luck if someone owns the property

high taxes and volunteering

I am 100% in favor of people volunteering for causes that concern them.

I am 100% not in favor of my 16hr a day working ass, getting taxed any more to support said volunteers.

If you worked 16 hours a day/7 days a week under my system, you'd be retired in less than 5 years. And much better off than you would be if and when you ever retire under this system.

You're wrong fella. I enjoy your enthusiasm, but it's not reality.

My shop has been around for 42 years. I'd love to hear about your 5 year retirement plan. I've evidently been doing it wrong!

If America was not a Socialist country? There may be a point to the OP headline. But nah! We're a flaming, socialist country! There's more to it! Has to be some sort of "money" involved or a potential for it. Always is,...regardless of a/the form of government. Anyone that wants to "govern" you ain't being your buddy.

Capitalism has a fatal flaw, permanent expansion where the money and power ends up in very few hands. This is a fact. It leaves the Capitalist Government without much turning room. Historically this always happens when the expansion comes to an end, an no new wealth from expansion is created. It then has to destroy a competitor and seize their assets, the alternative is societal collapse. The ones holding all the money will always push for this option.

If this system was as wonderful as you all keep telling yourselves, you wouldn't have anything to vote against.

That's what the American MSM wants you to believe. Russia is not politically divided and their people are happy.

If you control the media and silence oppositions then everyone is happy. Think about it.

Good lord, I am so tired of the "we can't find out how good they have it in country X, so they try to destroy it" thing.

I propose a new taxpayer funded program:

I want to work out deals with every country on earth so that we can fund one free ticket to the socialist paradise of a person's choice and then we will freely send them there.

If those countries are so wonderful, then let anyone who complains about not having those programs go.

Only if you relocate yourself to the free market capitalist paradise of your choosing... oh wait... that place doesn't exist either does it?

You could try China...

Based on the 2017 Index of Economic Freedom Hong Kong, with its extremely low tax rates, minimal regulations on businesses, and highly capitalist system of economics, ranks as 89.8% economically free, which is the highest rating in the world.

HK is great if you have the money to start.

And no freebies except some public hospitals that are reasonably priced.

Russia? Socialism??? That's so hilarious I almost swallowed my tongue. You've never been there have you? Russia is wholly-owned by the Russian mafia. Period. They control every aspect of the country al the way up to Trump's main squeeze, Putin. Socialism. Yea right. What a fool.

Russia has free housing, free university, free healthcare. The US does not. Even if Russia is controlled by criminals, the public is happy and fat.

HA!!!! Really??? You are SOOOOOOO ill-informed. You have no frigging clue AT ALL. Have you been there? Have you seen the 'happy and fat' people of Russia??? I've been there. There are no happy and fat Russian people. Oh, maybe the top 1% that are associated with the mafia but not the common folk. The common Russian people are marginally impoverished. They barter for a lot of what they need. Employment is scarce. People are paid irregularly. Resources are often scarce. Go outside Moscow proper and it's an entirely different country. Do yourself a favor, buy a ticket. Go see things first-hand and then write your posts.
