Fake news, disinformation and inaccuracies. Why does mainstream media mislead us?

I'd seen Donald Trump say time and time again that the crowd of media reporters surrounding him repeatedly report fake news, repeatedly distort facts about his campaign and election, repeatedly misquote him, repeatedly outright lie and his list af accusations about the lies in the media really doesn't end. This issue with fake news items has become frustrating enough that Presient Trump has declared that he will not hold any further public news briefings, instead releasing fact reports to the media on paper only to reduce the shenanigans. Why do you suppose that the media has been unfair and inaccrate with Donald Trump? Isn't it ironic that the media has become worse than the tabloids? Can anyone enlighten us at to why the news media has become very unreliable and faulty?

Maybe not everything you disagree with is 'fake news'.

A principle of journalism is that the journalist should not become part of the story. They've inserted themselves into the narrative, and they have discredited themselves as informers by doing so.

The reason for the manufactured outrage is advertising dollars or party loyalty. They have irrevocably discredited and ruined the 4th estate for money or for tribal reasons.

Its all about money and control of the narrative. And it works because most watching are brain washed koolaide drinkers.

Maybe journalists are preoccupied with their public recognition and are trying to become stars but of course that would be like going to a movie to watch the audience. You are right about one thing; journalists should stick to the guidelines of their profession and not insert themselves into their own narratives.

The media lies to us because they are no longer held accountable and they know it. Just like the cops shoot people with impunity (they fired one for not shooting someone the other day) and the Pentagon destroys other nations, the banks foreclose, companies get bailed out, the justice system, land grabs, the corruption in Gubment.

Meh who cares?

If they get caught they just laugh and continue the next evening with their agenda driven BS.

Nobody cares, and those few that do aren't a threat to them.

The fake scream media is just the tip of the iceberg, familiar to us because most people are exposed on a daily basis.

Its like watching a circus, the act occurring in the ring is all you see, same wth a game show, theatre play, or whats on TV.

We are trained to this from birth.

Just a few days ago Trump claimed that when he appeared on Colbert's show it was the highest ratings Colbert had ever had. Unfortunately he was off by a few million views, even losing out to Jeb Bush of all people.

Now, was he pulling that out of his Presidential ass? Taking credit for another thing he didn't actually do? Intentionally lying? Or simply presenting "alternative facts" as happens every now and then?

Who knows?

That was small talk. What are some huge things of critical importance that he has lied about?

Rather than focus on the people who are actually speaking, please state one of your distorted facts or lies so we can analyze the truthiness for ourselves.

"journalism" as you are portraying it, is different from opinion writers, and speakers.....the talking heads on MSNBC, FOX, CNN, that have their own show are opinion people, not journalists....big difference, not noticed by most people, due to being lumped together as the "MAIN STREAM MEDIA"....

I think you stopped quite short with your explanation.
Reporters are only the patsies. The real criminals are the owners of the media outlets, the reporters have to follow their masters agenda or lose their jobs, which also entails never getting a job in any media outfit because they all have their fingers in the same pie.
