HTS is the latest reincarnation of Syria Qaeda. It was established in 2012. Initially it was called Jabhat al Nusra, then it became Jabhat Fateh al-Sham last year, then it became Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham. This is a Salafi Islamist group whose members take Captagon pills and do suicide bombings. Its founder and leader is Jolani, a radical cleric. The US attempts to use this group to wreck havoc in Syria to hurt Russia in Syria. Possibly supply of arms is unknown at this point.
