Enraged Dad to GOP Lawmaker: 'You've Been Single Greatest Threat to My Family'

It's become fairly evident to anybody with half a brain that the GOP's replacement to Obamacare will be an absolute disaster:

Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-NJ) faced constituents Wednesday night, many of them furious over the House's passage of an ObamaCare replacement bill.

One man, a health care industry employee named Geoff Ginter, was particularly intense, pointing at MacArthur and calling him the "single greatest threat" to his family.

The man said his wife beat cancer, but they worry that it could return and that their two children both have pre-existing medical conditions. He expressed concern that under the American Health Care Act, they could lose coverage.

This from Fox News. To state the obvious, millions have found coverage under the ACA and millions will be set to lose that coverage the minute it's repealed and replaced with Trumpcare. This means more uninsured entering the population, more ER visits, more unpaid hospital bills, more bankruptcies and in turn the tax payer foots much of these costs. Do you think those unpaid ER and hospital visits will magically disappear? I really feel for this man. This is what he said below in a public meeting to Rep. McArthur:

"My wife was diagnosed with cancer when she was 40 years old. She beat it, but every day—every day—she lives with it. She thinks about it. Every pain, every new something going on somewhere, is it coming back? Is this cancer? Do I have it again? Is it gonna kill me this time? Is it gonna take me away from my children? Speaking of which: my children. Both have pre-existing conditions from birth. One cardiac, one thyroid. You have been the single greatest threat to my family in the entire world. You are the reason I stay up at night. You are the reason that I cannot sleep. What happens if I lose my job?"

I know too many folks who share these same concerns as this man. I'm a not a fan of Obamacare. Frankly the entire thing needs to be changed to single payer. If the GOP pulled their heads out of the sand and pushed for single payer, I guarantee you they'd have millions more support for years to come. The issue of healthcare in America has gone well beyond ideology. It's hitting families hard, it's costing people lives and it's costing the tax payer billions. What the GOP are doing are essentially saying 'let it be' as if we should accept this as normal. This isn't normal. This isn't right. The rest of the world sees this.

It's a states rights issue under the 10th Amendment.

The Constitution provides no authority or mandate for the Federal government to provide healthcare to US citizens, nor does it bestow a "right" to healthcare upon the individual.

If it would have been possible, Obama had a liberal Congress for 2 full years. They could have passed the very single-payer socialist plan they all want so badly. But they could not because they knew it wouldn't pass a court challenge.

States, block grants from the Feds, basic oversight by the Feds, open and free markets, and HC savings accounts.

Everybody deserves basic access to healthcare without the need to empty their bank accounts. Not a hard idea to understand. Those who want premium healthcare at the fanciest hospitals, they can pay extra and get access to that. Everybody deserves basic coverage without the need to ruin their lives financially.

But everyone already has access to basic health care. No one can be turned away at an emergency room if they need assistance.

This has been the case since before Obamacare was a complete failure and is still the case today.

The saddest part is, were it single payer these are the very folks who'd be rationed out due cost.

Rationed out because a taxpayer funded government system would not be viable without culling those with chonic conditions or incurable diseases.

Money really does not grow on trees.

A better end result would be had by working cost side of the issue.

This could be done today under current law.

You're kidding, right? Do you know how many major insurers have pulled out of the markets across the country? Do you know how high the premiums and deductibles are?

Obamacare has done one of history's great toilet-dunks and its demise is accelerating as we speak.

Whether healthcare was good or bad before Obamacare, it was WORSE under it. Of course, those milking the system getting it for free will disagree.

And yes, I automatically discount anyone with their hands out wanting me to pay for something they don't want to pay for themselves.
