How does this enlighten the girls? They are only being told that they are different and stuck in their religion even in America! What is enlightening is them to see that they are not able to enjoy freedom. That is enlightenment!

Why is it silly? It's a nice gesture and paves a way to enlighten those girls.
So no unexplained baby popping out 9 months later down to any premarital sex, guess that will please the parents if not the young ladies in question.

So no fun for the girls? Is that what you are saying? They should stay at home?

I agree this is not 'normal'. Why can they not go as they go to school? Hijab and all? They don't have to dance with boys, most girls in America often are all dancing together and a few braver boys will actual dance a few dances too.
You are 100% correct for asking....and I agree. Why can't they be involved like every day school? Why is separation needed at prom?
Why not practice tolerance like the rest of us are forced to do? Pun intended.
The whole point is to let them be themselves without wearing hijabs. And also I think that dancing with boys is a big no-no unless I am mistaken?
...with my record collection and the mirror's reflection I'ma dancin with my self...oh oh...uh oh......
Billy Idol. 1982
I suppose Muslims can't own Billy Idol records either? Why go to Prom then?

Another win'win for the establishment if you think about it. I really don't see an issue with this prom other than religious intolerant bull crap, and in a nation that's supposed to promote freedom of speak and expression that seems counter productive to me.

People are whining here about how liberals would not support that if they were Christians. I fail to see how it's a separation of church and state. It's just a harmless prom where the girls can be safe and be themselves.

Another one who doesn't want those girls to have fun.
Thanks for the contribution.
As cultural mores have changed, so has the prom--begrudgingly. An Alabama principal was sued in 1994 for threatening to cancel the prom if interracial couples attended. And despite the two South Dakota boys who in 1979 became one of the first known same-sex couples to openly attend a prom, some schools still have anti-gay bans in place

Not that many centuries back we were arranging our own forced marriages.
Just a thought.

Buddy are not all walks of religion free to express there belief in your nation?
If the School in any way celibates Christmas or any other Christian orientated festival they i cant see how this is an issue.
It is after all just a Muslim orientated evening for young Muslim woman and not some Jihad party or recruitment scheme.

Pretty sure it's Islam that's been doing that for 1500 years
