Who is the now longest serving FBI agent? That's my pick....

I'm not American, so I got a Question:
Why does Trump (i.e. the sitting President) get to pick the new "boss"?
This (Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation) isn't a political position.

Besides Trump seems to pick unqualified people to run agencies - De Vos, the EPA guy etc...
And there will always be a dark cloud of suspicion over the head of whoever he picks, especially if that person has had ANYTHING to do with the Trump Org./campaign or anyone in the Trump admin.....

In all honesty I expect them to flub this decision... but I also thought they would screw the pooch on the SC and think the guy they got is not a bad choice at all.

So here is to hoping we are given a pleasant surprise.

I think i'd like to see a senior FBI agent put in the position. Someone that's been living and breathing bureau investigation practices for 20+ years... not just a politician with a law degree. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with FBI staff to make a specific suggestion, but there's gotta be someone in the roster that fits the bill. I kinda like the idea of having respected field agents nominate, but in some ways that's just an internal popularity contest.

If Gowdy took the helm of the FBI, it would be restored well beyond any former glory it once enjoyed. His motto of 'no-one is above the law' rings true with everyone bar the dodgy of society.

It would be difficult for anyone to have any real reservations about Trey Gowdys patriotism and love for his country and absolute obsession with the Constitution.

If you want to transform the swamp into a life-giving oasis, a good start would be Gowdy in charge of the FBI.

Why are so many of you for putting politicians into the head of the FBI? Are you all fools? Do you not remember history? Specifically about J. Edgar Hoover and what a political FBI head can do?

Might be as good as anything.
