So it's cool to position ones hand and make stuttering noises in a demeanor that resemble as a reporters disability (who was directly being addressed) because it's "deserved," teasing - and not mockery, however, it's not cool to call the man who made such gestures a meaningless gesture because a platitude of reasons ranging from:

FCC violations
It's public broadcast and therefore ITZ 4 DA CHILDREN
It's "tasteless, disgusting, etc"

1. That was on a network that is not main broadcast. You have to subscribe to Netflix to access it. It's the same deal as when Cobert was saying edgy things on Comedy Central. There are looser rules for cable than there are for broadcast.

2. I do think that was in very poor taste considering it's marketed as a kids' show.

not for nothing but most people subscribe to cable too and thats how they get cbs.
nobody uses rabbit ears anymore...yeah there are the people that use an HD antennae but im pretty sure most people get their cable via a cable or a satellite subscription.
i know im picking but still.

pretty bizarre huh?
still trying to figure it out.

im convinced the reason these people are crying is because trump was the target and for some reason one is not supposed to talk negative about the orange one i guess.
trump can talk negative to anyone but nobody dare talk negative about him.

He made the same gestures about many people, including Ted Cruz.

I think you're confusing my views with someone else's in order to set up a little strawman that you can knock down. I never said anything about the FCC, about children, nor did I say Colbert's remarks were disgusting and tasteless. Another swing and a miss.

Who's hypocrisy?

I think the sounds coming from within your little echo chamber is doing you no favours.

The problem is two-fold.

1) Colbert is supposed to be a comedian...and this just was not funny (well, to most people anyway)
2) It was crude and inappropriate language - and of course grossly disrespectful

I don't buy into the "fire Colbert" line of thinking. Let the market decide...people will ultimately vote him in or out of his job, based on whether or not they want to listen to his pitch, and his crass level of presentation.

I will never watch him again, if I can avoid it, but mine is just one clicker.

Colbert is becoming more and more a one-note parrot, that does nothing but harp on Trump. Again and again and again. We get it. It gives you ratings. Way beyond what your middle-of-the-pack show deserves.

If talking about manure gave higher ratings, that's what he'd been focusing on instead.

Talking like he does is well within free speech. That it makes him appear like a disrespectful SOB towards the current POTUS is his problem.

fair enough.
so those gestures are not exclusive to the reporter dude

much like cock holster is not gay/male exclusive

i know you didnt bring up the homophobia but the point stands

No, I get it, he's got a long history of making "disabled" jerky-gestures when he's mocked people in the past (even those who aren't disabled), but that history of mockingly disabled gestures doesn't really debunk him mocking the reporter. All his history showed is that he often likes to pantomime people he disagrees with as being somehow disabled as well.

Clearly he was mocking the reporter's reporting, not his disability.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Colbert's statements.

In your eyes, sure.

I see a guy with a long history of pantomiming people he disagrees with as being disabled. It's just that in the case of the reporter his target actually had a disability somewhat similar to Trump's standard disability pantomime.

Him having a long history of mocking disability (even in those who aren't disabled) doesn't debunk him mocking the reporter.

he was mocking the reporters reporting by spazzing out with his arms?
dont get that

seemed to be focusing on the disability to me

i just want to say something else i think is hilarious is this is non trump. this is all about how the media reports # and there is always faux outrage. i will just use this as en example cause we are talking about it.
trump was under scrutiny for this
people were offended
the media was bashing him for doing it

but the media sure played that # on heavy rotation didnt they?
its so wrong and so offensive so here ya #in go!!!

pick anything going on that is 'offensive' or graphic or whatever in any way and even though it is supposed to be bad the media makes damn sure we see it.....over and over

Arthrogryposis limits the movement of the arms. Trump was moving his arms. If it was an imitation of the disability, it was a poor one.
