Arizona woman discovers note from 'Chinese prisoner' in purse bought at Walmart

2000 Yuan is $290 a week, $15,000 a year. US poverty line is $12,082 a year. These prisoners (assuming this is not a fake letter) don't have to pay for their food and board... They're making more money than a minimum wage US worker makes with less expenses plus they've committed some manner of crimes under Chinese law. What's the issue here?

What's OBVIOUS is who the anti capitalistic folks are, and they are the haters of Walmart and every other business here in America.

Prisoners are paid $290 per month? Why should they be paid at all? If these are real prisoners who have been criminals and done real crimes (as opposed to political prisoners) I don't see what the fuss is about. In China prisoners are not treated as if they are on holiday with all their emotional and physical needs met during their temporary absence from their usual crime scenes and pool of victims. My guess is prisoners can't elect to have transgender surgery in China.

Yeah, short of taking it to a forensic lab and testing the ink (or whatever substance) and paper to see where it originated, and test things like pollen and the like trapped in the paper fibers, I have a hard time believing this is authentic.

That said, though, that doesn't meant that I think the information on the note isn't somewhat accurate...I'm sure that prisons over there are literal hells compared to U.S. prisons.

I may be missing the point of this, but what does that have to do with what I said?

And for the record, the white supremacists didn't overrun the town...it was a planned event that ended relatively peacefully and they left, according to your link. That said, it seems like a couple of idiot groups yelling so loudly at each other that they can't hear what the other was saying...but I still don't see what that has to do with my comment.

Never given Walmart a single dollar. Never will. Supporting Walmart is not supporting capitalism or business. It's supporting a monopolistic destroyer of business. It's the end or capitalism in favor of corporatocracy. No thanks. They are universally part of the problem.
