referring to discrimination against Muslims in Austria, the leader went on to state that "if this continues... with the widely spreading Islamophobia, the day will come when we have to ask all women to wear a headscarf – all – out of solidarity to those who do it for religious reasons."

Yeah, it's all fun and games until those people you're bending over backwards to support come into power in the government and women start getting beaten and arrested for not covering their heads.

Such is the way that Fascism grows, from headscarves to brown shirts to powerful symbols that embody the essence of the state's power.

Can't say they weren't warned.
This was predicted when the crisis started but ignored.
Its only a comment for now but it seems the EU is going according to plan.

When people immigrate to another country, they will learn the language and customs and try to conform, ultimately integrating by the following generation or two. However, customs and traditions can go both ways, so if the culture at large finds certain aspects of the immigrant's culture to be attractive or fashionable, then those could be adopted.

Things like food for sure, fashions sometimes, words (esp. swear words) can be integrated into the dominant culture, but it is because of choice and popular opinion, not because the government made it mandatory. This should happen naturally and in an organic way, not because an ethnic group is moving into a country who's government is afraid to offend them with the established fashion or other traditions.

Europe is a continent full of different nations, people and cultures. Austria is not a whole Europe.
Don't think other nations would sit and do nothing, no way.

Weird. There's lots of Muslims elected and appointed into Western governments yet we still have no religious laws except ones with Christian overtones.

From your link...

Alexander Van der Bellen, who made the statements while speaking to students on Monday, began by stating that he believes it is

"every woman's right to wear whatever she likes."

However, referring to discrimination against Muslims in Austria, the leader went on to state that

"if this continues... with the widely spreading Islamophobia, the day will come when we have to ask all women to wear a headscarf – all – out of solidarity to those who do it for religious reasons."

The hypocrisy in this quote really is ridiculous. They can wear what they want but if their feelings get hurt we will force the rest to wear what we tell them to... All in the name of religion and feelings. Wow!

Also, these same women could answer "# off" to the Austrian president if he asked because these women may not want to show solidarity towards something that they may disagree with or don't condone or have no respect for.

According to RT Poland is the biggest threat to the Russian security system so... I am even more sure that this sittuation wont happen in my country in the future. Countries like Austria, Germany, France with big number of immigrants and new culture bringers are lost in fact. But there are still plenty of people who wont agree for that. Proud Austrian, Germans who knows when you have to help and when you have to stand and fight.

it would be actually nicer and more logic if muslim women could show solidarity with their European sisters instead and dump that unnecessary cloth on their head.
Since when is the tail wagging the dog?

There is nothing more satisfying than walking down the street seeing a woman in her natural state, strutting her stuff, hair blowing in the wind,

This is seriously surrendering to be a mucked up world.

There is no end guy and gals,

we are on a downhill slope.

What's wrong with YOU?

Being forced to wear them, it's a symbol of female empowerment and liberty the world over.

Well anyone can come up with a ridiculous idea,i guess..question is: what if the Austrian women are asked to cover their heads, and many refuse? I mean.if you ask something of 100 people, chances are,at least 25% of them will refuse,i should think, maybe even half.As long as there are no repercussions for those who refuse,he can ask till he's blue in the face and jolly well be ignored, not so?

He doesn't say anything about forcing women to wear headscarves. He is talking about women expressing solidarity about allowing women to wear whatever they like.
