Socialism is achievable in the US. And don't tell me it can't be done.

Of course nothing is free. The motto of socialism is, I scratch your back, you scratch mine. Of course this system is not perfect. It is flawed. There are many people who have genetic diseases who cannot contribute. If they are taken care of and reproduce then over time more and more of the population would have genetic disease and cannot contribute. Eventually socialism collapses because of that.

This phenomenon is described in Idiocracy movie.

Ask anyone in a country with free healthcare how long they wait to be seen by a doc.

I make an appointment a week in advance, I then go to the clinic, I wait in the waiting room, I see my doctor. Usually half an hour after the original appointment time, but eh, that'll happen.

My son tripped over and split his lip wide open and needed stitches. He still has the scar.
I took him to the emergency room at the hospital, got ushered through within 10 minutes, they had him stitched within the hour and I took him home two hours later. With a free bottle of children's ibuprofen.

Admittedly dental services and the like are another story, you'll be on the waiting list for a year or two.

/anecdotal.

Where do you live?

Small town or large city?

I have friends in many countries and many actually travel out of country and pay out of pocket when anything serious happens. Most live in either large cities or small towns that have to go to large cities for a hospital.

I am sure there are exceptions to it, but the majority wait months. I have had 2 friends die waiting for medical procedures.

Yeah really.

WHAT did she get wrong ?

However, contrary to Western usage, these states do not describe themselves as "communist" nor do they claim to have achieved communism;they refer to themselves as Socialist states or Workers' states that are in the process of constructing socialism.[6][7][8][9]

Eventually of course, with the progress of technology there would be socialism. AI is advancing fast and soon most people will have no jobs. A century ago more than a third of labor force did farming. Now it's less than 1% because of machines. Online shopping is replacing retail stores. In McDonald's you can see those meal order panels replacing teens.

I swear average socialiasts these days have some kind of dissociative disorder.

Meh... I can only swear and moan as I don't know any argument worth a debate but... but... but my opinion has to be taken seriously, otherwise I will offer more retarded semantics to bore the crap out of all ya commies for FREE!!!oneoneeleven

Yawn. Dissociative disorder? Hold ya horses, physician and heal yourself first maybe? Also, when you receive a service without having to pay for it I'd dare to call it free of charge, which renders your whole condescending reply irrelevant. Just saying.

Socialism only leaves misery and despair, fertile grounds for capitalism to spread democracy and freedom.

Yes I did it myself.

Explain to me why someone else should benefit from my labor

Adapt or die. Funny how tech is finally catching up to evolution and mother nature...

I could go off on a major tangent about consumerism versus what is actually needed. It is the driving force behind all issues worldwide. Hell...i sit here typing on a Galaxy s8+ simply because I like it...fact of the matter is I could live without a phone altogether.

Another fact is that we weren't meant to live like this. Sure we have progressed exponentially in tech, but what benefit outside of consumerism has it given us?

So what if I can now instantly communicate with someone on the other side of the world...what do I gain from that personally?

The chemical energy you need to build the house comes from the food you eat. Do you grow food by yourself? If not then you certainly received labor from someone else for your food.

Wrong question, what did she get right then? Your citation is obviously just another lie written down during the RED SCARE area for the profits, her books didn't sell that good. Did they? Giggle away!

I'm not under the impression that you care to know what socialism stands for. And before you start with the national socialists workers party next, I'd like to see your definition first. And let me add a more devious question: you don't like the scandinavian socialism? What about a social democracy then, is Germany a failed state as well?

This is the issue. People put more weight behind certain skills now, and tech is what is driving everything.

Personally I would rather live near you and grow food and trade your craftsmanship for my farmable resources. It builds a real symbiotic relationship where we depend on one another.

I feel this is a completely lost aspect of human culture now.

Imagine if all tech went down at this very moment...how many billions would die within weeks worldwide?

Read the US Constitution.

Then read about socialism.

Then find a way to bring socialism without violating the US Constitution.

I find it odd that the most relevant post in the thread is without reply. You nailed it. Short of violent overthrow of the US government Socialism s unrealistic here in our country. Too many checks and balances and safeguards to overcome. This thread is little more than mental masturbation.

45 minutes after making the appointment last time.

Admittedly that was quick, normally it's later the same day.

Bullsnip. Our Constitution has been amended 27 times and can be amended 27 more. If enough of us agree to do so, there's nothing you can do to stop it... short of attempting to violently overthrow the government.

I live in Canada where healthcare is free. I was in line to get my health card renewed the other day and it took hours of waiting in line. That's how bad socialist service is. Yeah it's slow. It's free, but the quality of service is crap.

My point is, socialism is achievable. As for the service, that's another story. Just compare public schools with private schools. Where do rich people send their kids? It's a no brainer.

Wow Health care is free? No such thing bucko im in Australia were we think the same thing but its not true i pay for it through my taxes. I pay the poor by being over taxed. Socialism is only good for the lazy or incompetent.

And what about all those who aren't wanting to work, and don't care to work?

We have those currently, and they are in the prime age of physcial labor. They Languish in the basements and extra rooms of their parents house sitting on computers and consoles swiping left or right and throwing controllers..

They are already living like socialists. Think your going to get them to go out and build a house for someone else, out of the kindness of their own heart because its the socialist thing to do?

Sadly, the youth are in favor of communism/socialism.. over 44% in the last poll I saw..

Very scary, considering the lefties like it too, and that is what a lot of protesting is.. more free services, like education and such.
