It's really staggering the mass destruction across Europe in the 20th century.

Americans can't really imagine....

Yeah 60 million people died in WWII, mainly Europeans.

This new turn back to nationalism probably isn't a good development

Macy's takes it pretty lightly.

As a theme for a Thanksgiving float, nuclear war is sublime.

Hard to imagine why they made a float like that?

Mainly Russians and Chinese, actually.

Russians 26 million

Chinese 20 million

Yeah: it feels so surreal sometimes.

There are moments, when looking-around, that everything just seems off, somehow.

As we sit and chat: there are armed and ready nuclear-headed missiles, pointing at our heads.
Think about that for a second.

Just for the sake of going completely into conspiracy mode: 'I wonder what would happen if it turned out that nuclear weapons are a complete fabrication'? What if fast fission is not possible and only slow controlled fission with a moderator is possible?

How much control is granted to the people in power simply through the threat of Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD)?

Just pondering.

You believe this? - maybe you should ask the survivors of Hiroshima or Nagasaki this question? (There are some still around who were children at the time)...
