U.S. tests unarmed nuclear ICBM amid North Korea crisis

Among the many other things we have happening today, April 26, throw into the mix a testing of the Minuteman III.

(VERO BEACH, FL) According to the Air Force Global Strike Command a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile minus its standard nuclear payload will be launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base on April 26th to test the weapon’s effectiveness, accuracy, and readiness.

The launch will be overseen by the 576th Flight Test Squadron from Vandenberg’s 30th Space Wing and will occur between 12:01 AM PT and 6:01 AM PT on the north end of the base near Lompoc, California.

Also there is an unconfirmed report of a testing from Vero Beach. Still waiting to find a source.

It will probably be fired towards NK as a show of force and fall on our aircraft carrier by mistake. NK will be cheering.

A Gulf of Tincompitence event!

Would be funny if not possibly accurate.

It's going to be a big day, wanna be neighbors? I don't think many even know the U.P. exists.

Shouldn't North Korea and Iran protest this "test firing"? The USA protests when those sovereign nations conduct their own tests.

What bothers me is that some people in Lower Michigan do not even realize the UP exists. On the news one day from down there, "there is no snow anywhere in Michigan" We had a couple of feet on the ground up here and big snowbanks at the time.

I don't know why that would bother you!

The UP is casually disregarded. The Big Mack goes right to Canada don't ya know.

But, Trump may put a 20 percent tariff on pine lumber coming out of the UP by mistake. Oh well, we can use it ourselves to build saunas and hunting camps I suppose.

Or walls. I hear those are making a comeback.

Hopefully if anything pops off, the rest of the world will still be ignorant of the UP. I've got a spot carved out up there!

They could send an armada of powerful ships to California as a protest. (Berkley students would welcome them!)

From the Wiki:

Most NKN vessels are small patrol-size craft unable to operate over 50 nautical miles (NM) from the coast but capable of policing the DPRK's territorial waters.

I think that is the bulk of their "armada."

Hey more power to them if they succeed.

That would be hilarious...provided the personnel aboard the aircraft carrier had ample time to abandon ship lol

I know personally that they test minuteman lll missiles at Vandenburg on a periodic basis because I watched a launch some 20 years ago there. Got to go into the launch bunker and talk with the launch officers. They stated that the missiles were pulled out of active silos at other location, brought to Vandenburg and then launched as part of their readiness testing.

The launch was around midnight and it was amazing to see. I thought "so this is what it would look like, WWlll."
