People paying 400k O to speak sure is hilarious.

People defending it more so.

So much for getting the money out of politics!

How was he against capitalism before? He was a paid lawyer at a law firm, then a paid teacher at a college (not quite "professor" rank), then a paid member of the Illinois State Senate, and then a paid federal Senator. He also had a book deal before he even became President, including his best selling book "The Audacity of Hope". And then as President, he oversaw the 2nd half of the TARP bailouts which literally bailed out the heart of American capitalism, Wall Street. Then he helped bail out our corporate & capitalist auto industry for good measure.

At what point was he actually against capitalism?

Sure was singing a different tune when it came to Occupy Wall Street, and eating the rich.

Not my problem. I didn't pay anyone to hear Obama speak. I just find it hilarious that you are complaining about it just because Obama is doing it. You don't care about anyone else being paid to speak, yet Obama's name is involved and you have to invent the flimsiest reasons to whine and bitch about it.

So much for getting the money out of politics!

If I were a betting man I'd say that that $400K is going to Obama's bank account and not to his political career.

Obama, who spent years bashing big banks (even if, like Trump, ultimately achieved nothing to halt Wall Street's dominance) will deliver the keynote address at the organization's lunch in what will be one of his first paid speeches.

Be nice if people actually bothered to read the source material.

How bout stop IGNORING real facts instead of CTRL L fake facts.

On September 20, 2016, Obama delivered an address to the United Nations where he said:

While open markets, capitalism have raised standards of living around the globe, globalization combined with rapid progress and technology has also weakened the position of workers and their ability to secure a decent wage. In advanced economies like my own, unions have been undermined, and many manufacturing jobs have disappeared.Often, those who benefit most from globalization have used their political power to further undermine the position of workers.

A world in which one percent of humanity controls as much wealth as the other 99 percent will never be stable. I understand that the gaps between rich and poor are not new, but just as the child in a slum today can see the skyscraper nearby, technology now allows any person with a smartphone to see how the most privileged among us live and the contrast between their own lives and others. Expectations rise, then, faster than governments can deliver, and a pervasive sense of injustice undermine people’s faith in the system.

Wait, so now you guys are against capitalism? Which is it?

No Obama was against capitalism before he was for it.

See 60 million dollar book deals and 400K speaking fees.

Fairly sad OP. Anyway, it's not like you know how he will spend it, and more to the point now he's a private citizen you have no real reason to know. As the song says, let it go.

Oddly enough I don't recall hearing him talk about everybody should do things for free and not accept compensation for providing a good or service.

Which, coincidentally, is what he's doing now: providing a good that people are willing to pay for.

Much like you think it's off for certain members to talk about the free market, it's also off for other members to whine about the free market just because it's not working the way they wish it was.

As I said, more hilarious still.

The point is Obama is a hypocrite.

to the tune of $60,400,000 and not even a 100 days out of office.

Liberals only have a problem with conservatives making a lot of money.

Weren't paying attention then.

Not everyone.

Just the evil one percent should give all their cash to him and let him spend it however he saw fit.

Sure do.

Capitalism is pure darwinism.

Dog eat dog.

Wealth creation and destruction.

Not where FAILURE gets rewarded.

See Obama making 400k to speak.

And finally you've admitted to what I said way back on page 2:

I think you're just triggered that people are willing to pay $400k to listen to Obama. Probably explains why there's no thread by you about Bush making millions from his speaking engagements.

You can't fathom why anybody would want to listen to him, ergo it's bad that people will pay to do so.

Not sure how any of that prevents Obama from collecting a $400k speaking fee for his speeches.

LOL You've confirmed my suspicions.

Just for the record, you can't just make up definitions for known words. It doesn't work like that. I'd suggest you look up "capitalism" and something like "traits of capitalism". Learn what capitalism actually refers to and then maybe you'll understand why your arguments are being rejected, refuted, mocked, etc.
