Damn people. Politics pays! Obama getting a $400,000 speaking fee says it all. The funny part here is. It's a Cantor Fitzgerald at a health conference come September. We all know what a disaster the Affordable Care Act was.

Shortly after Barack Obama delivered his first (free) speech today since leaving the White House in Chicago before an invitation-only crowd of college students, community organizers and other fans, Fox News' Charlie Gasparino reports that in what may be his first paid speaking arrangement, Obama will be paid $400,000 to speak at Cantor Fitzgerald's healthcare conference this September, setting the benchmark for how much an hour of the former president's time will cost going forward.

Mo Money,Mo Money. MO MONEY!

First one's free.

Next one is at government contractor pricing

Fools and their money are soon parted.

Sure hope he pays his fair share.

Neat story about a private citizen getting paid to do something.

If his mother is a US citizen, then doesn't not matter where he is born? Isn't because his mother is a US citizen he's considered to be a natural born American?

I thought it was a neat story about a private citizen ripping off college students.

I saw the word "Mo" so I thought this was another bash Obama thread. I'm sorry.

Obama is going a great job raking in the dough!

Not for the providers. Just a little gratuity for 'playing along',

"Thank you Mister President.

We would have gotten it to you sooner, but you understand bribes look bad in the public eye. So we arrange payment for services rendered now under the guise of 'speaking fees' and 'Health'.

Please be brief, time is money.

No #, neo. That is the staple of post-Presidency careers for ex-Presidents. Write a memoir and go on the public speaking circuit. It's a cushy life, but after spending 4 to 8 years doing the hardest job in the world, they deserve it. Let him do him.

Come on Barry, you can do better than that :

$153 million in Bill and Hillary Clinton speaking fees, documented

College is a rip off to begin with, so that goes without saying.

It's a private citizen charging a fee to speak in public, much like most other people that have held the same position he has have done over the years, and he's charging what people are willing to pay.

Or do you not understand the free market and such?

Exactly.

But because it's Obama, we need to # all over him for taking money to do a thing. Oddly enough, I don't recall a lot of articles talking about Bush's speaking engagements and the millions he's made from it.

No one deserves 400k to speak especially after railing on about the supposed evil one percent, and the so called high cost of education.

400k speaking fees pretty safe bet to say is a big reason students can't afford to pay for college.

Isn't that completely normal? Even Sarah Palin got paid a large sum to speak, for a while...

Books and speeches....

The free market economy doesn't work on what people "deserve". It works on what people are willing to pay, and it looks like people are willing to pay $400k to hear Obama talk.

Maybe, but that is a college expense not a tuition expense. Though I'd rather a college was paying to get a speaker in to talk like Obama rather than paying some NCAA coach another bucket full of money to coach the college's Division 1 team.

That takes ALOT, and I do mean ALOT of nerve to talk about the free market.

Especially after O railed against it for eight years.
