China isn't by America's side , they remain opposed to action against the North.
The fleet is probably being used as a deterrent against the suspected Nuclear test North Korea is preparing for.

The question is what does Trump do when Kim pushes the button for the test.

Apparently the U.S wont be alone.

Japanese destroyers join US strike group amid tensions on Korean Peninsula

(Rt.com)Two Japanese Navy destroyers have joined the carrier strike group ‘USS Carl Vinson’ heading towards the Korean Peninsula for a massive show of force as North Korea prepares to mark the 85th anniversary of the foundation of its military.

IMHO considering a set of Continental Movement catalysed Global Displacement Waves are incoming around 2021......one might consider that USA...China...Russia......are now rebelling against the same European centralised globally reaching ANCIENT CABAL which has managed to come out on top and in power for several of these 3657 year cyclical cataclysms....www.quintessentialpublications.com...

Trump is likely holding back Global war right now using the Art of the Deal..... everyone is cutting side-deals to equally share high ground mistakenly considered safe ground.....without having a thermo-nuclear war over these places and resources.

The question is,

"What does Kim want, and are we willing to give it to him to avoid a war?"

What few people seem to realize is that, at the moment Kim is holding all the cards.

Trump is used to making deals, yes; but you can only make a deal if you have something the other person wants more than something they already have.

The things Kim has are his nuclear program (both power and weapons), his missile program, and his dynastic rule.

These things he is NOT willing to give up.

What has Trump available to offer Kim in exchange for what Trump wants?

Considering what Trump likely wants from Kim, NOTHING!

And so, the prospect of war on the Korean Peninsula looms ever larger.

And the most likely alternative would be for the US to Navy forces to return impotently home.

Kim wants to have nuclear weapons and working ICBMs or NK will end up like Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. That's my impression after watching few documentaries.

What really needs to happen is someone needs to take Kim out. Yeah, I know that it is "illegal" according to US law. But the US doesn't have to be the one who does it and even if the US did it, a half-way decent disinformation program could claim otherwise. Kim is the latest in three generations of insanity and it's time for it to end. seems to me China, Russia, and the US have a common interest here. Surely we know where NK's nuke facilities are. Place some MOABs there at the same time and NK would be history without killing a lot of people and no nukes. EVERYBODY in the entire world would be better off, including China and Russia. And while we're at it, have a SEAL team take back the USS Liberty.

Tillerson says that the "clock has run out" on Kim Jong. The USS Carl Vinson battle group will not be there for long.

If Kim is "taken out" as you put it, another of his family will rise to take his place as "Dear Beloved Leader", and the nightmare will continue.

In fact, such an action risks elevating Kim to the status of "Dear Beloved Leader WHO WAS MARTYRED FOR HIS PEOPLE!!!!"

Your plan did not work so well with Sadam in Iraq,
Gadaffi in Libiya, or even binLaden with AQ.

What is that old saying about doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome?

The problem is that North Korea's defense doctrine includes a first nuclear counter-strike if war seems imminent. A carrier group is the ideal target for a tactical nuke: no civilians would be harmed, and the United States would look like the bad guys if they nuked the people they were allegedly "liberating." The world may be one ill considered tweet away from nuclear tragedy. This is the nightmare scenario that got so many to rally behind the "anyone but Trump" banner.

WHAT "other family"? He has no heirs. Inaction has been the guiding light of US foreign policy for some time, Saddam notwithstanding. Saddam provided stability and we wound up with instability. Kim provides instability already. Unlike Saddam, does anyone seriously doubt Kim has WMD? What is it going to take for you folks to realize he is a serious threat? Take out Seattle? Oh, gee, maybe we should have done something! You want to talk doing the same thing and expecting a different result? How about Chamberlain? Didn't work for Hitler. Conciliatory gestures for Kim won't work either. China, Russia, and the US need to come to a deal--to take out Kim.

If we are truly a wise nation, and directly or indirectly kill Kim Jong, it's not likely that his replacement will be as unstable and nutty, is it?

I say we take the chance, and get rid of him in the next week or two.

Whether they are as crazy or not, I think they would be more willing to deal after seeing what happened to Kim.

Actually, I'd be curious to see who would take power if he were removed. I'm not sure any of our intelligence services could say with any good probability either honestly.
