Two medical doctors, Chad Livdahl and Zarah Karim of Tucson, Ariz, spent about thirty thousand dollars to make up their own batches of botulism and sold more than three thousand vials of the stuff as the cosmetic drug Botox for about one and a half million dollars. One of their customers, Bach McComb, MD, paralyzed himself, his girlfriend and two others. All three doctors have been arrested.

Two Arizona doctors have been arrested on charges of creating and selling bootleg Botox that left four people paralyzed.

Drs. Chad Livdahl and Zarah Karim of Tucson, Ariz., sold 3,081 vials of knockoff Botox to doctors nationwide for $1.5 million, while spending only about $30,000 to make and market it, U.S. Attorney Marcos Daniel Jimenez said Wednesday in announcing the arrests.

Also charged was one was of their alleged customers, Dr. Bach McComb, a Florida osteopath who investigators said accidentally paralyzed himself, his girlfriend and two others with injections of botulism toxin 10 times stronger than Botox.

Their hospitalizations Thanksgiving weekend launched the investigation that resulted in Tuesday's indictments and arrests.

Livdahl and Karim were arrested in Arizona, while McComb remains hospitalized.

Here again, we have a case of greed gone wild, resulting in tragic consequences for the innocent and the guilty alike. Truth does indeed, surpass fiction. It is hard to believe what some people will do to make a buck. You might think that the medical profession is still lucrative enough to limit the kinds of schemes MDs might resort to in order to make a few bucks.

I love you Azza for knowing that, but I kinda hate you for posting it first.

I would like to see Michael Jackson get a shot of that stuff into his crotch once a month, would free up a lot of lawsuits
