Wow.... I guess we should request our own churches at the workplace now. Soon we will have mandatory "babble" noise used as a call to prayer blasting over the intercom.

pjmedia.com...

The SEIU told PJM “a strongly worded letter” from the “Seattle faith community” would be delivered to Amazon during the rally planned outside the company’s .quarters.

“Unlike other companies in locations with large Muslim populations, Amazon has not supported Muslim service workers requesting space to pray during their law-mandated work breaks,” the SEIU email to PJM said.

“Despite granting the high-earning tech workers conference rooms to pray in, there appears to be a double standard for the contracted security officers who protect the tech giant,” the SEIU email concluded.

I need an area. like an altar.

To worship the Dark Gods on my lunch break.

How's their fantasy less insane than mine?

If you don't like it, don't work there.

This is a work place environment and when you enter those doors, this is all business till you "clock out". Then you can do whatever it is you do.

Lets hope Amazon doesn't fold.

Tell them if they want prayer rooms for theirs, then next thing you know every religious persuasion will also want their own 'break room'.

Separation of church and state thing we got going on in this here state. This is work, leave your politics and religion at home.

said he was let go because of his request to be allowed to pray on his work break

If certain members of staff are allowed a place to pray in their break then why shouldn't others in the workforce be allowed the same courtesy ?
Rights should not be applied dependent on pay scale.

I cannot wait until liberals have to apply the 50 years of litigation they have levied towards Christianity to their beloved Islam...

Every time I see a progressive assault upon Christianity I get a secret joy knowing one day those same liberals will be forced to apply the same rules to Allah and his hoardes of cultists.

When you leave your house religion should be left there. Worship who you want, how you want & when you want (in your own home) Work is for working!

Man, they are bringing this up again. I thought this was all figured out that during their work breaks, they can do whatever they want. Just not on the work place should anyone practice their religion openly, you are there to work, that's it. Are American's that weak as to let this even come to surface again?
I wish they would just go back to their country if they can't even tolerate the work place. They are insane narcissist's.

You know. Smoking is part of my religion. I want a nice indoor room where I can "worship" instead of having to stand outside

If i worked at Amazon id convert to the Church of Cannabis and demand a place to smoke up twice a day as for my religious beliefs. I'd offer to share the space with the muslims yet i wouldn't share any grass with them.

Christianity is a dangerous force, just like Islam. In spite of that Christians still have a huge amount of power in this country, just look at the current administration.

LOL,

Good one. Christians have lost every battle in the "morality war" since the late 60's.

What do Christians want to make you do against your will? Serious question.

Seems like a good argument for those of us who feel that Muslims don't want to assimilate into our culture, but actually want us to change for their beliefs. Please do whatever is your job title at work and leave your religious customs at home or at your mosque.

I do not support work places having to accommodate any religious belief - - if that belief disrupts the job.

Cabs not picking up alcohol related customers is another one.

Hah! The robots will not be such nuisances. Robots are good little Marxists with no demands other than a good "oiling" every now and again and possible software version updates. They are humble and you don't even have to pay them wages, give them holiday and maternity leave, pay their NI contribution , et cetera et cetera et cetera. You would think robots would be Corporate Utopia, but there ia a dark "spanner in the works" that makes them useless to government; they don't pay tax.

I think I would request 5 sandwich breaks a day to pay homage to "Sandwich God". He appeared to me out of the smoking toaster.

Not sure why it would sound like that to you , if well paid members of Amazon staff are allowed a room to pray in their own break why shouldn't contract staff be allowed the same courtesy ?
There is nothing in the story that says they want anything other than parity with their fellow workers.

My religion requires that I urinate into banjo's and get drunk by noon.

From the OP's article:

The Service Employees International Union and three Muslim guards who work for Security Industry Specialists, the security contractor Amazon uses to guard its facility, accuse SIS, and by implication Amazon, of refusing to allow the guards space to pray five times daily, even though members of other religions are granted the privilege of using prayer rooms.

If the bolded text is true, this doesn't really seem fair, does it?

All joking aside, companies will simply stop hiring Muslims.
