Trumpism is indeed a global "movement". But it's a parole-parole-parole "movement". Populism combined with demagoguery shared by both rightists and leftists.

Keep clinging to that hope, the truth is too painful to bear. A Le Pen win would only be another glaring reminder: Socialism Does Not Work.

Le Pen is a symptom of France's inability to deal with its paternalistic attitude towards labor. Everyone wants free healthcare, a thirty hour workweek, two weeks of paid vacation, and immunity from being laid off or fired for any reason whatsoever. The result is an economy where employers are hesitant to hire new people.

If Le Pen actually slashes the safety net, her supporters will turn against her. It is the only similarity to "Trumpism." An ad hoc appeal to popular sentiment without a long term plan to ameliorate things, resulting in an alienated base. (I could name a certain 20th century figure who solved this problem by turning his country into a war machine. Take your pick, there was more than one.)

How can any American say we aren't globalist. We have fingers and bombs in every war and destabilzing event for 15 years. All our tax money goes into feeding this global killing machine. Are you that blind and can pretend otherwise?

No one I know in Idaho have any of those jobs. With retailing taking a nosedive, that leaves the high aspiring service/servants for jobs. Ah, the republicans reaganomics of purging working americans and giving more to corporations have come to fruition. Mothers hug your babies because War is the only job and healthcare offered. Poor France, what did Europe expect to happen with 15years of American wars. Destabilizing nations and refugees go hand in hand.

So now all you have to do is smash all the machines and insist that everything be produced by human labor. (Either that, or set up a paternalistic welfare state that supports everyone without the need for work.)

Now that is an idea I can go for. We could do that. But, not as long as there is religion. We have to suffer while we are young, suffer when we grow old, then die. And then, if we are good slaves, jesus and muhammed will let us sit in paradise and do nothing except have sex or sing all day.

Look up the talk about "guaranteed minimum income" or "negative income tax." It may turn out to be a more viable solution than Luddism.

I think it's funny to see the world nationalism thrown around so much today.
