Have conservatives become more socially liberal than "liberals"?

I don't have to ask anyone.

Marxism/socialism same thing.

People only exist to pay for the material wants of the masses.

Individual rights don't exist.

: to treat (something that cannot be owned or that everyone has a right to) like a product that can be bought and sold

Another way to think of it is as a new form of religion. Liberal moral puritanism.

Very well said!

I personally don't believe "racism" exists. I believe it's a political construct that conflates a basic Human biological reality (we're hardwired to prefer those most like us) with a mechanism used to score political points.

There is nothing unconstitutional about an individual not liking another individual or even group for whatever reason. It might not be socially acceptable, but people cannot be forced to like something or someone they don't.

Virtue-signalling? Is that one of those hip new phrases like "dog whistle" where you have to, again, assume the intentions of another?

Pretty much. It usually follows around moral high-horsery.

So you don't care about the hypocrisy of your people?

The founding fathers never tried to shut down speech they didn't like.

Well except for speech from a Black man or a woman or a poor person who doesn't own land or well literally anyone except rich land owning white men.

And in the 21st century who is considered to be 3/5's of a person ?

Bankers, gun owners, ceo's and the list goes on.

Liberal can think they are better than the right.

They can delude themselves in to thinking they are just so tolerant.

Everyone knows it's just self delusion.

so the right's more tolerant?.....hahaha.....thanks I needed a laugh today...talk about being delusional

We sure as snip didn't go around destroying property and throwing things, and beating people with bike locks because our guy lost in 2008.

So yeah the right is more tolerant.

Any adherents to 'left' or 'right' are equally & irrationally intolerant.

For example, I am persuaded by a lot of liberal-socialist approaches, but then I am also aware of the corruption, waste, and ineffective ways money is handled by all levels of government and how little oversight there is. And that leads me to appreciate a conservative viewpoint.

Strict adherents to the 'left' (liberal) and 'right' (conservative) skip over half or more thoughts about many issues. It's irrational. It's intolerant.

Both sides are so equally guilty...trying to prove one "side" is more tolerant is a futile exercise.

(BTW, the OP presented a "two-sided" debate. I understand that there are centrists and independents who exist outside of this debate.)

Yes its an ovious question to ask but not so much to answer. Lefty lib liberals are quick to take offense. But conservatives like us and most of the smarter users in these forums are far less judgmental. Lefties are always taking offense and getting angry. I would much rather sit at the table with conservatives that prey before dinner and say grace than lefties who just dig into there granola.

Liberals are less tolerant of LGBT than conservatives? LOL!!!
And just because some of us hate Christianity does not mean we don't tolerant Christians.

But saying that you *hate* a group isn't very tolerant is it?

I don't hate gays. You may think otherwise from theology discussions, but it's true. I'm also not advocating for anything preventing them from doing what they do on their own time. All I ask is that I not be made party to it out of respect for my own feelings on the matter.

Ah, ok.

So it appears that you do support simply assuming the intentions of a speaker instead of relying on their own words.

And liberals don't go around shooting up abortion clinics and protesting dead servicemen's funerals with signs about "thank God for dead soldiers."

This is fun!

I'm quite good with giving people the benefit of the doubt, actually.

Assuming is fine. Pretending an assumption is truth or fact isn't.

I wouldn't say "your people," Les isn't from the States and can't vote - but it does show the rose-colored glasses that come in shades of red and blue that both camps respectively deny themselves whilst accusing the others of having.

R's and D's always have, and always will be, the greatest threat to the American people. These people (the federal government, intelligence agencies) have experimented on unwitting citizens using drugs such as '___', are responsible for the Tuskegee Experiments, recruiting/granting amnesty to Nazi scientists (Operation Paperclip), have contemplated killing American civilians and blaming it on the Cubans to invade (Operation Northwoods), have passed draconian legislature after their false flag attack on 9/11 (Patriot Act, meta-data surveillance, NDAA), and the list of PROVABLE and FACTUAL events orchestrated by this government is lengthy and dark.

Others suggest JFK was assassinated by TPTB, the deep state, the elite, etc - others have postured that the government has orchestrated mass casualty events in order to instill fear for gun control. Big pharmaceutical corruption and having the FDA in their pocket, private prison business industry - and I could go on, and on, and on, and on.

But that's not what the American people want. They want Twitter-style bullet points and dank memes with colorful pictures so they don't have to read, comprehend, and digest information.

Partisanship > Country is going to be the downfall of this nation more than anything else.

Is refusing to serve gay people tolerant? And there are some Christians who call for jailing homosexuals. I know not all Christians are that way, just Fundamentalist Christians in general.

The problem with the party of tolerance is what we have seen the intolerance play out for years.

Occupy Wall Street. HATE the rich.

Black Lives Matters. HATE the police.

ANTIFA. HATE the so called fascists.

GUN VIOLENCE. HATE anyone practicing their second amendment right.
