Anti-government protestors clashed with Venezuelan security forces and pro-administration gangs Wednesday, turning what was supposed to be a massive peaceful march into a chaotic scene of tear gas and hurled debris that left at least two dead and cast a shadow over the future of the beleaguered South American nation.
...
Violence struck early in the day Wednesday, when a 17-year-old boy was shot dead in the Caracas neighborhood of San Bernardino as opposition protestors were gathering for what was being called the “mother of all marches.” Local media reported that a 23-year-old woman was also murdered in the border state of Táchira.

Massive protests in Venezuela lead to violence, uncertainty

Venezuelans are living a living nightmare in what is known as "socialism of the 21st century".

In the latest protest 2 people were killed by pro-government militants. One a 17 year old teenager, and a 21 year old woman.

Apart from using the Venezuelan military, Maduro had also given weapons to 500,000 pro government civilian militants in what has been called "a repressive, homicidal action" by the socialist Venezuelan President.

Embattled Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced plans Monday to expand the number of civilians involved in armed militias as tensions in the crisis-wracked South American nation continued to rise.

Maduro said he hopes to expand the number of civilians involved in the Bolivarian militias created by the late Hugo Chavez to 500,000, up from the current 100,000, and provide each member with a gun.
...
Thousands of Venezuelans have taken to the streets since the Supreme Court stripped the National Assembly of its last vestiges of power nearly three weeks ago, a decision it later reversed. At least five people have been killed, dozens hurt and more than 100 detained in the demonstrations.
...

Venezuela's Maduro seeks to expand armed civilian militias

That action, to arm civilian pro-government militants, came as a response from Maduro to the opposition call for peaceful demonstrations. This is how the socialist regime responds to calls for peaceful demonstrations.

Of course, this has happened as Maduro has been disarming civilians.

Sick, what is happening there. That's what socialism brings; chaos, starvation, disorder, violence, and death. Why, again, do so many on the Left push for it?

Social unrest isn't due to "Socialism". Like any authoritarian power structure, hiding behind a facade of peace and unity is SOP.

ROFLMAO!

Because we don't have chaos, starvation, disorder, violence, and death in the Capitalist America, right?

I suggest you leave your box and see the world outside it.

It's falling apart right in front of your eyes.

Been to the grocery store lately?
Was there food on the shelves?
Ran into any shortages recently?

You don't have a clue how good you have it in capitalist America.

It's pretty simple really. Here we have a balance of psychopaths with a capitalist system. In socialist system, all the psychopaths are drawn to the state because that is where all the power lies. You get too many psychopaths in one sector and poof - you're donzo.

There will always be poor people.
With socialism there will just be a heck of a lot more poor people.

Aint that the truth, and from what Ive seen, they are a bunch of nutters.

Honestly, the UN should declare this a failed state and send in troops to arrest the politicians, jail them and then put them on trial and hang them in the public square. Make Venezuela a UN protectorate and turn the whole country into an International Refugee Camp.

Exactly. Plus it'll never work in a country of 335,000,000 where the takers outnumber the makers.

The mass executions are just right around the corner, what with the state gun confiscation that has been going on for five years now. I suspect Colombia is locking down it borders.

Well, what a shame that a country with such vast resource wealth could be corruptly run into the ground leaving everyone so broke. I sure hope Colombia does not put up with the BS. Colombia is America's proxy-vassal in South America, so if there is any outside intervention, I suspect it will first start from there.

The primary issue with Venezuela is that they put all their eggs in the oil basket. With oil prices stagnant, they are bleeding dry.

The only role communism plays in their demise is by not encouraging more economic diversity through entrepreneurialism. But the fact is that the export situation they face is a "lynchpin" for their survival. If they diversified exports, it wouldn't matter if communism was present or not, other than communism not motivating entrepreneurs to build this diversity.

If you only export 1 thing, you're screwed. Its just that simple. If you want to see why a nation is succeeding, you look at their foreign policy to see how they leverage allies across a diverse portfolio of goods.

If you have a single export that is tied to commodity trading making up more than 70% of your economy, i fail to see how you will build enough stability to survive. Your entire nation is at the whims of a couple of foreign entities that play big in the oil market, and you have no control over the direction that wind blows your ship.

What are you talking about?... Venezuelans have to go to other border countries to get food... Chavez and Maduro both implemented the socialist rationing system that has always existed under socialist/communist regimes.

People running to the store when they found out chicken and flour arrived at the store.

Here is what some American leftists claim about socialism, which we alsoread from socialists and other leftwingers who never experienced the rationing of socialism and the oppression. Venezuelans have turned to eat dogs, cats, pigeons, and anything they can find in the trash, and we are not talking about a minority, but it is "the new normal" under the "socialist utopia".

At least 2 million people have already left Venezuela, and more are trying to leave.

People have become looters to survive because the socialism government, like others, rations food and all resources. After all, being able to feed your family and yourself well is seen as "a capitalist imperialistic dictatorship.

MAduro wasn't the only socialist/communist president who said he wasn't going to be deposed even if the people voted for it. Chavez did the same thing. Chavez and Maduro both have also used the military and have murdered protestors who were not armed.

The following video shows from afar one of the latest civilian victim who was murdered by a pro-government militant. She was not armed. She tried to run but was chased down and murdered.

Likely so, but wow.....naive!! All anyone has to do is look at the violence and rioting we've already seen to know it can happen here.
