Morning All,

Breaking on all major British news outlets.

Announcement is at 11:15.

No one seems to know what it is but I'm assuming it will be about Brexit.

Could it be a "no deal" exit?

Is she going to renege?

Time will tell.

It is imperative that we leave the EU imo . Could early elections scupper that ?

95% the British public don't even know who or what the EPP are ime . They'd nearly _all have voted leave if they did .

God I h8 ignorance

And in consequence, this country is now at war with North Korea".

Election it is!

Wow,
another attempt to derail our referendum result perhaps?
Or is she seeing it as her chance to gain a huuuuuge majority now that Labour is in such a mess?

Strategic. No doubt she will win a landslide. It will give her a lot of authority. I said ages ago she would be Prime Minister for a long time. As it stands there is no effective opposition. That is very sad.

She seems pretty confident in what she's saying, looks like I've got another vote coming up :-(

Another advantage, if that is her intention, is that it would give her an extra couple of years to sort out the negotiations and their effects before having to face the voters again.

But I thought the silly Act imposed by Cameron prevented this kind of sudden Election?

Clever move in my opinion, she is making the main thrust of the election about Brexit. Arguing that Labour, Libs and Lords are anti Brexit.

I think she just killed UKIP too, because anyone wanting us out of the EU now has to vote conservative. We just can't take the risk of Labour or Libs having any say at all since they want to sell us out to Brussels.

ETA Disraeli, you are right, but he never kept his word on any damn thing as far as I can tell.

Postal vote for me then this time, off to Download 2017 on the Wednesday. I admire her gamble tbh, but not sure if it will pay off.

This is a very clever power play by may.

They now have potentially 17 million (leave) voters to vote for the conservative. They will steal a large voter base from Labour in the working class, which is counter-intuitive but in the long term the right thing to do.

Remember though that this needs to pass parliament first but I imagine it will.
