Does this really have any relevance to today's society? Goat herders and people who thought the earth was flat do not have any special knowledge when it comes to religion.
"he will divide the spoils with the strong" sounds pretty belligerent and war mongering. I thought Christianity was a religion of peace. I guess not.
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Well, I don't need to prophesy that you have already made a horrendous ridicule trying to call attention with such a cheap comment.
The scroll preceded in four centuries the date of the execution of Jeshua Bar Joseph ordered by the Roman Procurator Poncius Pilates.
Everything certified with C14 dating by the way.

Whoever the fool was that got executed, he accomplished zero and zilch, this should be a red flag but somehow it is a rallying cry.....

But even Secular civilization is based on some of the basic fundamentals from the bible, don't rape, don't murder, don't steal, treat your neighbor with respect, apply the golden rule to everybody, especially men towards women.
It's pretty basic stuff, that causes civilization to be stable.
1. Trust good character more than promises.
2. Do not speak falsely.
3. Do good things.
4. Do not be hasty in making friends, but do not abandon them once made.
5. Learn to obey before you command.
6. When giving advice, do not recommend what is most pleasing, but what is most useful.
7. Make reason your supreme commander.
8. Do not associate with people who do bad things.
9. Honor the gods.
10. Have regard for your parents.

No, that is a claim that does not have solid support to be true, such a long trip out of the boundaries of the middle East must be mentioned somewhere in the Gospels, and it is Not even briefly mentioned neither on the Canonical ones nor in the minor ones.
The origin of such story is an account told to a Russian traveler who went to North India and Pakistan in the XIX century, it refers to somebody that brought to Kashmir the news about Jesus life, they possibly have merged in their traditions the two different figures in one.
If there is something trully historic on it must refer Not to Christ traveling there, but to his Apostle and cousin St Jude, who traveled there carrying the Holy Mandylion, the Burial Shroud of Jesus with his image miraculously imprinted on it.
Also there was a disciple that it is likely traveled with St Jude and brought back the Mandylion from India to Turkey, when the Apostle died in Kashmir or Pamir, his name was Thadeus, that in many traditions has been merged In only one person with his Master.
Another possibility was his other Apostle and also cousin, St Thomas, that was very look like Christ physically, who actually went to the subcontinent in misioner trip, but Not to Kashmir.
The tale in its current form has been used by Muslims and Buddhists Not to recognize that they have Insisted to reject to accept Christian faith, but to try to prevent the Christianization of Pakistan and Northern India, with the audacity of to claim that Jesus was a kind of Buddhist monk.
Thanks

Advaita Vedanta proponent Adi Shankara is believed to have "defeated Buddhism" and established Hindu supremacy. This rivalry undercut Buddhist patronage and popular support.
