A chinese annex of north korea seems logical.

It would open up some sea ports for them

Not to mention getting rid of the import fees on coal for example

One minute they have the most inept military in the world, next minute they pose a 'nuclear' threat?
Is that all it really takes to persuade America?

At what point do you take them seriously? Once they really do have the capability to strike the U.S.? Perhaps they are fake, but parading ICBMs on camera doesn't bode well for them OR the U.S.

There are multiple quotes from NK about attacking the U.S. with nuclear weapons. They are testing nuclear weapons. They are showing off long range missiles. You can't turn a blind eye forever. The only country that has a chance to talk sense into NK won't do it. Personally I think the time to deal with it should be before they actually have the capability to strike us.

Well, theyre a wannabe nazi Germany with nukes and subs. They regularly threaten the US with destruction, and even mouthed off to China recently.

They are under the microscope, for good reason.

Russia, China, US and NATO have many similarities and common interests. NK, is a loose cannon and imho, a potential threat to many great nations

What do the North Koreans want above all? ....Reunification. If Lil Kim actually got it, his days would be over anyway, as the ideological purity of the North would be weakened, because the South has a totally different mind-set. He can only keep his regime going because of the continuous state of emergency. His army only works because like in the old Soviet days he has a political officer behind a load of farm boys who know they will get shot if they don't perform. So Lil Kim cant rely on his troops not defecting , and surrendering on mass . His only option is to use a nuke as a survival tool. If he does he's gone anyway.
His Options for personal survival providing he is not insane , which he might very well be, as an absolute power holder. Who now actually believes himself to be a god, are limited.
Exploring three likely options....Take the China deal. Beat the USA in a live war. Maintain the status quo, by de-escalation. He still lives a cushy life if he takes deal one. Deal two he would need some tricks we don't know about. He would loose face on the two options. Either way the Regime is gone. Personally thinking , he might be mad enough to try something, which would be mind blowing.

Reading some of the posts in here, some of you seem to confused.

A state of war has existed between North Korea and South Korea since 1950.

The war never ended.

In 1953 a armistice was signed, which was nothing more than agreeing to stop shooting at each other and form the DMZ that separates the two countries.

However, there was no peace treaty and the state of war still exists between them.

Since 1953, North Korea has violated that armistice many times over, actually killing South Korean citizens and also US military people (that one happened in the 1970s, I was actually living in S. Korea when that happened).

Considering how many times N. Korea has violated that armistice, I think both S. Korea and her allies have been very, very tolerant and patient.

However: if S. Korea or her allies were to attack N. Korea, it would simply be a nullification of that armistice.

Because: A state of war already exists between those two countries.

That is a healthy volume of armor and cargo transports. Saw plenty of radar, guess they beefing up the 'ol eyes on the skies?? Russia's entire border with NK is delineated by the Tumen river, with a single bridge serving as a corridor between the two states at the end of A189 from what the google satellite maps shows. Perhaps they are positioning for the possibility of mass exodus across borders in the event of conflict, like the Official Chinese story.

It appears to be a very isolated place on this Earth. Keeping it secure considering the current state of affairs between their neighbor and our Empire seems logical.

Look at it in a different way. A state of peace has existed since the July 1953. if you ignore the periodic military provocations from the North.

Noth Korea is a brutal dictatorship looking for a reason to exist. THere is a risk that the North Korean's who are off their Chinese leash, will just go to pot. I think the risks are three fold.

1. The North continue their (slow) attempts to devlop a missile that can reach the US, thus giving them the capability of a first strike. The US will not tolerate this progress, and surprised that some people think it's OK. The North already has nukes and missiles of short range.
2. North Korea destroy Seoul, popuation 10 million, accidently or out of spite, or lob a niuke towards Japan.
3. North Korea rack up the conventional provocation. Credit to the South for not rising to the bait, but there's a limit.

The reason I think something of some sort is going to happen in N/SK is because the neocons in Washington want to open up a second front against Russia.

I suspect they just to put more pressue on them in the hope they will make a diplomatic or militaristic mistake they can capitalise on and then claim they no option but to go in their militartily to save the world.

Paul Wolfowitz, the neoconservative who was Deputy Secretary of Defense under the Bush regime, declared:
“Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power.” - Paul Craig Roberts.

From what Noam Chmsky has said, the US is now a declining power because it exported it productive capability to China in the 19080s and now this capacity is lost permanelty because the skill base is nearing total depletion.

The other reason the US is declining is because the US economy has gone away from investment in useable goods and services to invesment in the finanical services industry which concentrates more and more money into the hands of fewer and fewer peoole resulting in less production of usable goods and services

it seems that what Chomsky said is now starting to impact on the military.

Yes I think you are right. The economic destruction due to the present policies. Has been fairly predictable. Theirs definitely a long term plan in operation here. At the moment its heading for some sort of chaos scenario, then out of the chaos a New World Order. Its all to do with money. The present threat of nuclear war is part of the persuasion, of the protection racket.
We are slowly becoming accepting of a fascist state, which is being brought in "For our Protection" Security Cameras everywhere, credit card transactions, personal searches at airports, Drug checks if you want a job. Mobile phones, surveillance of computers. Then we find the reason for all these intrusions, is because of terrorists that to a large extent has been funded by our tax payers dollars. We have been conned.

Kert Haskel, the US lawyer who was an innocent bystander to the Christmasday bommber thing, and now lives in South Americia somewhere said that when somethig gets a lot of coverage you know its a false flag becase they want you to watch it.

I find it a little odd these days after having woken up and learned how the world works, to discover so many people are still clueless about whats going on in this world and how its run. As I see things the US is slowly sliding in to that balck hoe of tyrrany. I think that big black steel trap is not very far away from being sprung shut over them. When it does the rest of the west will quickly follow.

I think Hitler was right when he said you can move people from freedom into slavery by just one little nudge at a time (paraphasing) Dont take too big a step they will walk all the way there themselves. This seems to be exactly whats happing regarding running the US into the ground and turn world for the 90% ers into third world conditions where most of them will die.

The most ironic thing is that it seems, that the whole electronic world was created to hhelp in some small way in the enslavement of the human race.
