As stated this is just a rant. I have written two within one week, not a good score, but the other one had a philosophical approach this one is different.
Scenario. Rural grocery store. Parked on the side of the store. Twenty feet from the main parking lot just around the corner. Full visibility from two roads.
Left my break at 6:15 pm, clocked out at 6:48 pm.
I come out, happy that I get to leave early and there is my wonderful van with a chattered passenger window, glass all over and a purse lying in front of it.

My high blood pressure says "Lets have an embolism", my common sense says "Call 911" I do that scaring the # out of the poor front desk person. ( Oh and dispatchers are really good at making hysterical people make sense, they are so patient, they don't hang up when you are crying)
All goes well, local sweet cop arrives within five minutes, does his thing whilst doing a great job of calming me down from hysterical sobs.

My rant is. Why??? You, ok some one, let's not make this "personal" wrecked my vehicle, the cost of which I can't afford to pay for, you stole my wallet which contained the meager amount of cash I possessed, that was supposed to pay utility bills. You took my wallet with drivers license, cash and many other "things" that will cost me way beyond what you gained. $95.00 ??? including change.

Why? I live here. This is My Community I keep an eye out for people.
I am so angry, not scared, angry. Enraged. The officer said as I left if I saw any one or noted something suspicious I should call. I asked him " Can I beat them up first?" "No you can't. "

Do people who do this know the burden they put on the victim? I can't pay for the window. All I had was the money in my wallet. I can't pay my utility bills I have no money for food.
You are despicable. Why? I am nobody, the poorest person you could target. Why do people do this?
I can comprehend stealing bread if you are hungry. But I am putting out more than a thousand to repair this.
I am so angry.
Please forgive me, I don't want to hear about Karma, Every thing will be alright or This is life. Thank you

So sorry to hear about your terrible day. People can only act like that when they think of others as something less than them. If we could all see each other as equally valuable human beings there would be so much less crime. I'm sending positive energy your way.

I know you don't want to hear it right now, but the anger you hold will only hurt you. To release it you must forgive. Holding resentful feelings is like swallowing poison and expecting it to kill the other person.

I wish you all the best.

Now I'm angry for you and sorry I can't help.

No mention of Karma from me, you just have to hope it gets them though.

Perhaps somebody saw what happened and will come forward. It's hard to imagine that a person could break a car window without being noticed. Possibly there are a family or household known in the area for being lowlifes?

Generally in a small community people will know who the wrong 'uns are. A few enquiries may not come amiss.

You'll need to focus your mind to deal with the aftermath - get a new drivers license, explain things to the utility companies, etc.

Do that now while you're angry. Use that energy in a positive way.

I can't really offer anything you don't already know but am at a loss to show concern or support in any other way.

Stay strong.

I never see bad things as actually bad. Your brain got stimulated. You learned a lot. Bad things are a necessity to learn. In the real world. Not internetty stuff.

P.S. It was either a crack head or a teen.

I'd start my investigation there.

Or it might have been an inside job.

Start with friends n family too.

"Please forgive me, I don't want to hear about Karma, Every thing will be alright or This is life. Thank you".

^ I can't go that route so.... Sorry it happened, but sh1t happens. Coulda been worse if you were sitting in that van when the hoodlum decided to find new treasure there. Everything happens for a reason (that's not karma-ish is it? If so I apologize).

I call a spade a spade we should never succumb to allowing foul behaviour, and if I had been in my van I would feel very sorry for the intruder. My martial arts training would have taken them down, hard. Very hard.

Sucks! Sorry this happened to you. It always happens to the ones who can least afford it.

If only these scumbag criminals knew that we're 2 degrees away from the edge of the street like they are.

Like when homeless people ask me for money, I just have to say, "I'll be out here with ya next month. Ask me again."

Hate takers.

I am angry right along with you!

My Husband and I have had things stolen from us in the past and it is infuriating. We had to work very hard for anything we ever had and had many years of struggling to get by. I hope they catch whoever did this to you. In the future, never ever leave your purse in your vehicle! If anything, lock it up in your trunk if you have to. My Husband ended up putting alarms in his cars.

Thank you, I appreciate "angry with me" and I will use it in a positive way, I have done all the practical stuff, and now I will hunt down the bastard that violated my privacy.
My Rottie was sniffing at the van when I came home, she is very perceptive. She was like " I don't know who this is?"
There is a ton of glass I have to get out of it before I can let the dogs in.
Pardon me but I hate these people. Come clean up my van and pay for the window.

Thank you. But you see that was my first thought, but then I wondered if I could confront this person and convince them that their behavior was detrimental to survival I could perhaps turn them around.
I am terribly naïve.

I drove to a friend's house one time and she had a sign on her van window that she wrote that said "Hey assholes! Quit breaking in here!".

She said her van had been broken into 5 Times in a month!

I told her to quit putting new stereos in every time they do it lol.

Hey, you are alive. That's good right?

Take that dog, track that crack head down and kick him in the....

You need to release that anger. Kick him in the ..... real hard. We would all feel better if you did.

Friend,

I respect your ideals. I do..

That said. Be thankful you were not sitting in that seat.

Much better you lose the 95 dollars than a fight. Or worse your life.. I understand the adrenaline..the training...

But it only takes a fraction of a second to be shot or stabbed.

Its not worth it..

No.. I'm not a left wing scared of my own passed wind pacifist..yes I have won AND LOST my fair share of scraps..but I will tell you this..

Better to be down 95 dollars s and vent on the internet than be down for weeks or more in the hospital with a punctured lung and 1000‘s in medical bills in debt.

Respectfully,

I always thought a locked vehicle in a rural setting would be safe. Live and learn.

My heart goes out to you.

When dealing with the utility companies. Make sure to get a copy of the police report to back up your story.

They will work with you on payments if you give them a copy of police report you filed.

Brighter Blessings to you WalkinSilence.

When we were much younger we could. These days, it doesn't matter where we are, we have to be careful. Sad but true.
