Cold, hard truth... Collateral damage is what wins wars. We can sit here and discuss how evil and barbaric that ideology is, but that's war in a nutshell anyway, what you can't do is deny that it is a fact. To win a war you kill enough "innocent civilians" to make them stand on their feet and join you in fighting your actual target.

Well, we know with the like of the Baghdad video these days, collateral is a much abused word, still if the idea is still the American military MO, I have to take your word for that.
As it stands in WW2 of the various French resistance groups was able to return 4000 badly needed airmen back to the allies, as well as thousands of other military members of the allies, so the French didn't just, 'sit in their hovels' despite the authority of the Vichy government in the south which didn't last so long, nor the in the occupied north. The Free French also sorted out the Vichy controlled colonial lands. France had many political factions at the time of WW2, and De Gaulle was the man who really sorted things out and focused the French in a very clever way..like putting communist leaning factions in other theatres of war for instance. In WW2 collateral damage was just another aspect of war for most people.
Guerilla warfare today fighting a military?.....military collateral damage is the pig's shiite, and the only assurance is that folks will turn against the military from whom they should expect a higher standard, it doesn't mean that they like guerillas any better, it's just a hopeless situation for them...so much firepower all round.

But yes, there are plenty of revisionist ideas about WW2 around these days in nice shiny books.

I am not looking forward to how many civilians have died. This size bomb was not needed. What is wrong with your president?

Not just the President. WTF is wrong with the people who are ok with this (assuming it's real)? We use poor civilians in distant countries as test subjects for our MIC, then we wonder why people over there hate us.

I am not just ok with it, I applaud it.
I hope they are developing even bigger bombs.

Obama dropped 26,000 bombs in 2016 alone.

Where was your outrage then?

Hillary ordered drone hits that killed hundreds of children in countries we were not even at war with. She even bragged about it in her memoirs and said she would do it again.

Where was your outrage then?

His outrage was on ATS.

Maybe you were too busy hating the "Muslim hordes" to read his very consistent posts on the matter.

Can the personall attacks and false attributions.

Nobody used the term "muslim hordes" in this thread besides you.

I have never used that term. Ever.

Didn't go as far as denying the hatred you feel for us though. That's telling.

That's cool though. I don't hate you.

Peace.

We have a few new ones, that is for sure, The Kinetic Energy Projectile would be a tungsten warhead that moves at three times the speed of sound, destroying anything in its path.

Let no forget the antimissile star wars.

True patriots support the military men and women who serve the USA. We also just defeated a true lifelong Washington crony by electing Trump in order to oust the corrupt individuals in government.

Only to be replaced by more people who are carrying on the same agenda that has been taking place for the last 12 years at least.......

More war, only now on possibly more fronts, and attempting to oust more leaders and more "nation building" because, you know, its worked out so well so far.....

how blind do you have to be to buy into the BS that electing Trump subverted all that, the direction still hasnt changed and this Syria debacle proves it

How many civilians have died at the hands of tyrants like Hussein and Assad, not to mention th Taliban and Al Qaida? Let's not sit here and pretend these civilians had some magically robust life expectancy before the US had their fill of the terrorist's horsecrap and took action.

We're no better than they are

How many more have died or have been slaughtered by the influx of groups like ISIS who have swelled into the vaccuum only to undo every inch that we bled for?

They may have been tyrants, but they kept the sectarian violence in check, a hell of a lot more than what it is NOW

He's not a bitch.

So we're escalating in Afghanistan , still have troops in iraq, looking at putting troops into Syria, and now escalation and talk of troops on the ground for NK....

Just how sustainable do you suppose this is and on how many fronts before we are overtaken?

History shows consistently wars on too many fronts brings the downfall of empires....

This isn't bravado, this is suicide.....

We are not on any fronts just securely bombing enemies which is sustainable indefinitely.

I've never wondered *why* the USA is hated, though. Quite the opposite, I've always taken the position that if we're going to be hated anyway, we may as well resolve the real threats and problems in the process.

You should probably do some research on where we have boots on the ground before making statements like that, and the possibilities of MORE boots on the ground in additional areas.......We currently have troops still in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria (and provided this blows up there will be a crap ton more) If China cant get NK underwing, or if Trump decides to show his ass, we could be sending a massive force there too.......

You think for a second our enemies wouldnt exploit that?

You should probably also take into consideration these strike groups and machinations dont just magically show up out of no where

Bush and Obama created the mess. Cleaning their mess up was never going to be pretty.

In 2001 we went to war in Afghanistan as part of the War on Terror. In 2015 that changed a little when Daesh started having a larger presence there.

In this part of the war, the military wanted to use the MOAB and it was allowed.

There would be no difference in that no matter which president we currently had.

In regards to this issue one potential value of President Trump will be seen if we are able to end any of the wars or conflicts we are currently engaged in.

That is because Obama cut and ran, progressive commie sympathizers know how to snatch defeat from the face of victory.

We had NO PLAN that was viable to stay during the Bush administration......we CANT stay there forever anyway, it was bound to happen......

Those countries and cultures are not like our own.......its a fools errand to think we can go in, depose/kill dictators, whipe out militaries and everything would be fine.......
