I cook in the woods all the time...
And I don't charge. Doesn't happen often, but when someone stumbles over to see what up, they are always welcome to join in.

My usual is ruffed grouse or trout with chives and orange zest.
Fast food in my neck of the woods.

That damned trout with chives and orange zest sounds AWESOME! People who have never tried trout cooked over a wood fire don't know what they are missing!

It's very hard to mess up a burger. One surefire way to do so is make it too damn big to enjoy as a sandwich.

I think you are correct, but I STILL enjoyed the heck out of that video. Even if it did make me feel like a lesser person in my kitchen.

You shouldn't. It's just 'food porn' as people say. Look, Burger King does it too! I know you can make something better than a Whopper. Can you film it better though? Maybe not. Therein lies the difference really.

With that?

I will say you do bring up a good point!

What looks good on film and camera, might not necessarily be as pleasing to the pallet as the picture makes the mind think!

Don't misunderstand me!

I love burgers. I love food. I've eaten the worst and the best. I've paid enough for 'gourmet' burgers that would make some people sick. I've also made better by my own hand.

Foods presented in these kinds of videos do look mighty pleasing. That's really all they're meant to do in my opinion. But I agree with Anthony Bourdain's attitude in the video I posted--

You can make it look fancy all you want. It will make people happy. But how much are you really improving on an already perfected dish?

How much better is that awesome looking burger than one you get for 6-8 dollars at any old burger joint in town?

I know. I'm a fuddy-duddy

Thanks!
Tell ya what, next time I pull a few trout, I'll do a video for you.
And if you want, I'll ship you one- with the chives and zest, and even the wood if want.
Just tell me where to ship it.

This is how I cook at work as well, lying down. It's an old French technique known as "you're fired". I dig it.
