Who is surprised? Barack (middle name withheld) Obama had said some divisive things about American society from his days in law school. No wonder this was off limits and not vetted in the press.

A biographer who is writing a book about former President Barack Obama claims that Obama once called America “a racist society” in an unpublished manuscript from his law school days.

David Garrow has uncovered lots of goodies about our former pres. Nice digging and timing.
Garrow spent 8 years researching and working on Obama's bio, and said his 2008 campaign would have been derailed if these things came to light. Oh the media made sure anyone who asked any question was labeled a racist. And every one wussed out and coward in fear at the thought of being called names.

David Garrow, the author of the upcoming book on Obama’s life, said he uncovered lots of revelations about the former U.S. president during his research for the book, the Daily Mail reported.

Garrow, who spent a total of eight years working on the biography, told the Jamie Weinstein Show that if any of those revelations he discovered surfaced during Obama’s presidential run in 2008, the former president’s candidacy would have been derailed.

Obama wrote how whites are racist and will not make special concessions toward blacks. Perhaps Obama meant well, he also mentions that blacks have racist ideology as well as whites.

The historian said Obama wrote hundreds of pages for a proposed book along with his friend Robert Fischer in the early 1990s when the two were still in law school, but the manuscript was never published.

“Racism against African Americans continues to exist throughout American society, an admittedly racist culture,” Obama and Fischer wrote, according to Garrow. “Precisely because America is a racist society we cannot realistically expect white America to make special concessions toward blacks over the long haul. The greatest testimony to the force of racist ideology in American culture is that it infects not only the mind of whites, but the minds of blacks as well.”

Garrow is surprised that Obama's life is not public, and questions the accuracy his other book (where Obama said he ate Rover) Dreams of my Father.

Garrow said people would be “profoundly astonished” at how much of Obama’s life has not yet been made public but added that it was not necessarily in a negative context.
He also questioned the accuracy of parts of Obama’s memoir Dreams From My Father, which was published in 2004.

I think most of us non-Obama supporters that were keyed into the other aspects of his life during his campaigns are not surprised. In fact, I assume that a whole shelf of such books are in the making as we discuss this first one.

Makes sense since he displayed it on his own shirtsleeves.

And he threw enough gasoline on the smoldering fires as well.

The US is the most diverse nation in the history of the world. We should be greatly applauded for that. But if you think there aren't going to be racial tensions, on all sides, then you are living in a dream world. The US is the greatest human experiment in history, and for the most part, has been a smashing success. We still have some things to improve on, but we just had a black man as President, when Britain, or China, or Russia etc. come close to us in our tolerance for diversity, let me know.

It is odd timing, and of course the author knew better than to attempt to talk about this when he was pres.

His actions have spoken louder than any words on paper could.

I doubt it is odd timing. If Clinton had won, the manuscript would have been bought up by some outfit and would never had seen the light of day.

Not properly vetted and the media gave him a free pass.

Clinton got the same deal, but still lost.

America is so racist that it even went as far as electing a black man as its president. What more proof do you need?

Please, the media knew exactly what the jackass was all about, as did his supporters. He won the presidency on the backs of his Kept Voters (present and then future). The difference between him and Clinton was that the promise of gains staying a Kept Voter of Clinton (for SOME of the Kept Voter pool) were less than the potential for gain under Trump in an economic growth period.

Police acted stupidly, even though he admitted he did not have all the facts.

Obama caused a serious racial divide inside the US and they are still reeling. He also talked a lot about his black people thus alienating all the other different races in the US and nobody batted an eye. Btw is he still in hiding with his whole entourage?

GASP! A young black man growing up in the sixties and seventies said something about RACE!! Stop the presses!!! Dear God, this is as revelatory as it gets!!! How can it be?? /sarc

Right Wing media are having a feeding frenzy on this so it seems!

From the publisher's description:

Moving around the globe, from Hawaii to Indonesia to the American Northeast and Midwest, Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama meticulously unpacks Obama’s life, from his tumultuous upbringing in Honolulu and Jakarta, to his formative time as a community organizer on Chicago’s South Side, working in some of the roughest neighborhoods, to Cambridge, where he excelled at Harvard Law School, and finally back to Chicago, where he pursued his political destiny.

In voluminous detail, drawn from more than 1,000 interviews and encyclopedic documentary research, Garrow reveals as never before the ambition, the dreams, and the all-too-human struggles of an iconic president in a sure to be news-making biography that will stand as the most authoritative account of Obama’s pre-presidential life for decades to come.

Hm. Sounds like maybe he isn't speaking badly about him?

Obama did not cause the divide.

The Republican Right (aka white dudes) did.

We disagree on that one. Of course there are plenty of "blame" to go around.

Obama did indeed fan the flames when there was a problem where race could have been a factor. He is an instigator.
