Again, then Obama should have kept his mouth shut instead of issuing hollow red lines which he knew he couldn't follow up on.
Yeah. Trump should keep his mouth shut on a lot of stuff too.

But you said this:

it only emboldened Assad when he saw Obama was a spineless weasel.
How was Assad "emboldened?" Has Assad been cowed by Trump's action?

This is about Syria, not "a lot of other stuff". Thanks for agreeing with me about Obama's empty rhetoric in this matter, as you are providing no defense for his actions.

Assad has not been cowed by Trump's action, thanks to Russia and Iran having their back, as from the title of this thread.

Words are not actions. I was against military intervention in 2013 (and so was Trump).

Russia and Iran did not have Assad's back in 2013?

while innocent children and families are murdered by a dictator using chemical weapons?

You seem to be speaking in fact. That means you must have the conclusive report by the UN investigation, the investigation by the OPCW, and all the data they collected from each piece of material contaminated by the attack with scientific analysis of the concentrations and specific delivery methods.

Thank God, this whole time I thought it was just conjecture and speculation from the one guy in Britain who gets his information from the terrorists on the ground . Now if you can just present the facts from any investigations that were released, the whole world would appreciate it.

Russia did not deploy to Syria until 2015.

The reason we only fired 59 Tomahawks was to send a message, the 60th hits the Presidential Palace.

I'm guessing you mean 2012?
Russian special forces arrive in Syrian port: opposition sources

Also, Russia's had a naval base in Tartus, Syria since 1971 (HERE).

That was only a very small number back in 2012. Putin got permission from Duma for the deployment of military to Syria in September 2015. Now there are thousands of Russian soldiers in Syria.

But they were still deployed there in 2012, not 2015. And you're still ignoring their naval base in Syria which was staffed by Russians until the 2nd year of this current Syrian War. You can't honestly say Russian troops were only deployed in 2015 when presented with this information.

As far as I know from the scattered reportings over the last two years, there are bout the same number of Russian soldiers in Syria as American, French, German, and British soldiers. That does not count the volunteers that are fighting alongside the SDF as citizens, and not soldiers.

There's no proof they were deployed in 2012. Rumors. Nothing more. Putin got permission to deploy in September 2015.

Then what?

Then we can start to fix the mess that Obama, the House of Saud , Turkey and Qatar have made in Syria. There are no "good" sides to pick from in Syria. You tell me what is the next step? Use of Chemical and Biological weapons needs to have a violent response. The whole world for the most part have been willing participants on the destruction of Syria.

What would you do Phage, if faced with use of Chemical weapons? The options aren't great.
