An islamist website has claimed to have a U.S. soldier named John Adams and has threatened to behead him.

Luckily for John he's just an action figure.

If you ask me it's pretty obviously fake in the picture, however the Army understandably took this claim as serious until they found no one missing.

The hoax was pointed out by the manufacturer of the toy, when they noticed the equipment did not match U.S. army issue gear. The equipment matched what was sold with the toy.

Now I understand the army must take every hostage claim serious, but I wonder, If they can be fooled by a picture of a doll, how long will it be before the hoaxers just use more convincing photoshop pictures, and still be taken serious.

I can even see this as opening the door for people being taken hostage and then being forgotten as a hoax.
