A few months ago there was a thread on people in their 20's going missing in Boston, well just on time someone else has gone missing. I understand people in their 20's doing dumb things while drunk around lots of water but the similarities are pretty striking. The article this person wrote is based on David Paulides work but went a little more in depth. cryptidantiquarian.wordpress.com...

The new young man who is missing. Early to tell, I live right outside of the city and go to these areas all the time. Lots of people on Facebook are reporting this and thinking there is a serial killer. boston.cbslocal.com...

I'm sorry I don't know how but if someone could post the dates of the missing? 12 deaths, and they are all in either October/Novembe, or February/March. Reminds me almost exactly of the book invisible by James Patterson but different method.

Terrible
I hope those that maybe responsible are caught. Maybe it is only one. but anyway that person who did it will have to live with it.

I wonder if David Paulides is aware of these cases. Has he been contacted by anyone?

In a number of those cases, there is a curious commonality.

The individual goes to a bar or event. Consumes some food or drink. And then wishes to leave early. Or separates from his group.

This is at least suggestive of the individuals being drugged without knowing it.

These are pretty consistent...except there are some years missing..2004-2006, 2008 and 2013 no one is noted as missing. Which is pretty weird. I went and looked at the map..there are 22 on the map and only 11 listed here...are the other ones that are listed on the map not relevant or have they just been overlooked? Interactive map

Also, makes you wonder if this is a serial killer and those years are without activity (2004-2006) if possibly it was/is someone who was incarcerated during that time frame or maybe they lived outside of Boston and returned? Or they may have murdered someone that would have gone "unnoticed" ...was by themselves, or had no family that would report them as missing persons.

Sorry if this has been discussed in the other thread..I haven't looked through that one yet..

Thanks,

It is odd.
Daniel Mun, for example, left a 'good bye' note so I wonder if they eventually determined suicide?
I find it odd, personally, that someone would wear skates while committing suicide. :/

There are a lot of oddities though with the cases and someone in one of the threads (there have been a few and I don't recall which one) mentioned a serial killer who could be an enlisted navy personnel and I don't know but, that seems as reasonable theory as any.

You could also just remove the 2003 disappearance from the list as it doesn't really fit the others. That eliminates the 04-06 gap.

I think that is the full list from that article now..Still no activity in 2002, 2005,2006, and 2008..but there is one in 2004 now. I am not sure all of these can be included though..as some seem to be a bit of a stretch. Take Jerald Gelb:

Jerald Gelb had a Master’s degree in computer science and was a former employee at IBM. He suffered a mental breakdown after being let go from his job in his 30’s, and his family members suspected he was battling schizophrenia. On August 16th 2001 he showed up unexpected at his parents home in Brookline, Ma. He spent the night, but was gone by approximately 5am the next morning when his parents checked on him. Jerald was 40 when he went missing, wearing a red sweatshirt, and has not been heard from since. The area he disappeared from is very close to the Muddy River, a small offshoot of the Charles.

I don't know if that fits the criteria 100%...

The link gives the info on all of the rest..and since there is 2001 and forward now..I don't know if it is appropriate to throw out 2004..unless you feel that the deaths/missing persons prior to 2004 should not be part of the equation or don't fit the "MO". I know that some like you and TNMockingbird have been following it a bit more closely than I have.. so, probably would be better able to determine whether those cases are relevant...

Thanks,
blend57

The one thing that smacks of high weirdness with that first list is the cluster of months the men have died - Feb /Mar and Oct / Nov.

I wonder what the connection is....

I think in many serial killer cases you can find gaps between the killings. I am going to throw out my theory on possibly some of them.

Myself I am an alcoholic. Not a raging alcoholic/drunk... I have been in my job 28 years, own my home and several cars, but when I drink I don't like to stop. Every now and then I start having some beers and get way too drunk and feel like crap the next day, physically and mentally.

I think some serial killers probably regret what they do, feel bad about it or afraid of getting caught and try not to do it again.

It's not hard to imagine feeling bad about killing somebody even if the killer has some mental irregularity...

The FBI has determined that 'lulls' between killings are quite possible and likely.

It has been widely believed that once serial killers start killing, they cannot stop. There are, however, some serial killers who stop murdering altogether before being caught. In these instances, there are events or circumstances in offenders’ lives that inhibit them from pursuing more victims. These can include increased participation in family activities, sexual substitution, and other diversions. • BTK killer, Dennis Rader, murdered ten victims from 1974 to 1991. He did not kill any other victims prior to being captured in 2005. During interviews conducted by law enforcement, Rader admitted to engaging in auto-erotic activities as a substitute for his killings. • Jeffrey Gorton killed his first victim in 1986 and his next victim in 1991. He did not kill another victim and was captured in 2002. Gorton engaged in cross-dressing and masturbatory activities, as well as consensual sex with his wife in the interim.

IIRC, I listened to Paulides on one of the podcasts (probably Coast to Coast) and Paulides said a high percentage of the men were of German Ancestry. I found that interesting. I wonder if this holds true for the Boston victims?

Thanks OP for bringing this back to the table.

It's scary for me thinking because I have been these people so many nights in the same area and bars. So I can imagine it being just young people being.. Young people. But the month similarities and how all men around same age, can't be coincidence, something is going on.

On the other post about the boston missing i wrote how I knew a gay man from my town outside of Boston, who moved to Boston for school, was 23-24, found in the Charles. And it got completely covered up. Nothing ever came out about it.
