Trudeau only had to look at Australia to see how a carbon tax will fail.

Guys going to go down in history as the PM who ruins the Canadian economy.

The theory is supposed to be that by making carbon more expensive by taxing the hell out of it, consumers will "choose" to use less energy. Does not work. It especially does not work in a province where average winter temperatures are in the minus temperatures (celcius degree). When your pipes are going to burst and your children are complaining of the cold, you will use energy to keep them alive and to keep your house intact. Regardless of cost.

Its not like needing gas for your car so you can go to work is a negotiable expense.

Ontario is a big province. If you don't live in a major city, there will likely not be public transit

More excellent news. Trump is systematically undoing everything Obama did during his failed 8 years as President.
Removing the U.S from the man made Global Warming scam is a big win.

Don't be too hard on moebius. He's just spouting the line he's been told to believe.

People look at the wind and think "all that power" without realizing what technology it really takes to provide a stable AC voltage source at the needed power levels to source a grid. They look at sunlight and think "all that power" without realizing what it takes technologically to harness it. And the government chimes in with inflated claims and skewed economics to help convince them that pig wearing lipstick is something other than a pig.

We have only two stable, renewable power sources: hydro and wave. Wave is just coming commercial, but hydro is widespread. Both are dependant on geography. Nuclear (properly designed and constructed) is a great solution, but yeah, too many activists who think the movies are real. None of the above can power long-range transportation either. Possibly Elon Musk can get some infrastructure to handle private vehicles electrically, but it will take time and he's a long way from powering trucks.

Not to mention the high pollution levels that battery production creates... highly toxic pollution.

Good post, and I hope Ontario figures it out before the blackouts start. Have a star.
