The insanity from the Democrats continues.
I have no problem with the baskets but to include voter registration forms is outrageous.
When they cannot naturalize for 5 years, what the hell do they need those forms in there for?
I am surprised the Dems are not throwing a pre-loaded bridge card in the baskets as well.
They should include a basic laws of the USA handbook and where to obtain help learning the English language.

A donation drive organized by the NDP collected some 50 gift baskets for refugees. Each contained items like diapers and kitchen utensils, a welcome letter from the Nebraska Democratic Party signed by its chairwoman Jane Kleeb, and a voter registration form, according to a video posted to Facebook by the Nebraska Democratic Party.

“When [President Trump] put in his racist travel ban we put out a call to action to Democrats across the state saying ‘help us create welcome baskets for refugee and immigrant families who are making Nebraska their home,’” she says.

The inclusion of a voter registration form in a “welcome” gift basket designed for refugee families is eyebrow-raising. Individuals with refugee status in the United States are only allowed to naturalize after they spend a minimum of five years in the U.S. and obtain permanent residence (a green card). But presumably, individuals who accept a “welcome” basket are new arrivals to the U.S. and have not met the requirements to become citizens. They would be ineligible to register to vote. Unfortunately, these requirements do not always stop voter fraud from occurring.

What the Nebraska Democratic Party has done with these welcome baskets is not illegal, but it may seem unusual, perhaps even improper. During her interview with CR, Chairwoman Kleeb was defensive and hostile at times, noting the “pretty right wing” views of CR Senior Editor Michelle Malkin. Kleeb told CR she thought it was “shameful” that “you guys are trying to make something like this into something bad.”

Just another fake news story:

"To register to vote in Nebraska you must:

Be a United States Citizen;
Live in the state of Nebraska;
Be at least 18 years of age on or before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November;
Live in the State of Nebraska;
Have not been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, at least two years have passed since the completion of your sentence for the felony including any parole term;
Have not been officially found to be mentally incompetent."

Diapers and "utensils"? Oh and here fill out this form and return it, we want to know more about you.

From experience, most 'homeless' people scoff at 'offerings' like that. Just go find a needy person and give them a few dollars, no strings attached.

Oh man, We need to standardize all of the states voter registrations and force laws on the books against aliens and non citizens voting. Starting with the people who take a registration without verifying if the person is a citizen and making sure there is a rule enforced to punish people who do not follow registration procedures. I am talking about government workers being held liable. They work for our governing agencies so they should be required to do their job correctly.

Isn't national registration standards out of line with the Constitution?

Truth? There are already laws on the books; they just aren't enforced in Democrat jurisdictions. And there's nothing anyone of us can do about that.

And I heard an expert on truing the vote and her experience has been that its impossible to observe vote counting in Democrat jurisdictions because the poll workers won't allow access to the back room where the voting is done and refuse admission on the basis of privacy laws already in place.

And that........is why you rarely ever see any stories about voter fraud. Its a lost cause.

Refugees typically aren't homeless, as it's kind of asinine to bring somebody over here as a refugee and then just drop them off on the street a few blocks from the airport. They're usually provided with shelter for a set period of time.

Most neighbors don't usually "scoff" at a welcome basket given to them by other people that live nearby, particularly when they don't know where anything is at in the area and the welcome basket contains common items everybody needs.

Unless they're just douche bags, anyway.

@ OP - it's an obvious attempt by the Democratic party to secure somebody's mindset as early as possible but I don't really see why it's worth getting pissed off over. At some point somebody is going to talk to them about politics and citizenship and all the other things that it entails. Getting upset about it now versus in a year from now is kind of arbitrary, as if one is pretending that nobody is going to mention "vote" to them at any point between now and finishing the path to citizenship.

Occam's razor suggests they faked their own death, or nobody filed their death certificate.

I find it really hard to imagine that people who are so apathetic to vote even once are going to vote twice.

Btw, how do you know they are still voting? In my county, it's very hard to get that information.

It's fake news to suggest giving the applications is breaking the law. So what is the outrage if they do not qualify to register?

There's no story here. It's fake news.

Fake news my ass.
Just like the story says...yeah its not illegal but should be viewed as completely improper to include those forms.
As a refugee coming into this country looking to make a new home, voting should be the very last thing on their minds.
But the Democrats apparently don't think it is too early to try to indoctrinate them, as even thinking about voting legally is at least 5 years away for them.

Fake news means the story is false.

The story here isn't false. Its true. Now, whether you agree with the perceived issue is another story. But that means you disagree, not that its fake.

RE: the OP....i agree, it is absolutely provocative. It isn't illegal, but it is provocative. But I can't disagree with encouraging people to vote when they have that legal right. So there is that.

Im aware of people in Texas who should not be able to vote that have, or at least say they have. So i know it happens. I know nothing about NE in particular, though.

Giving immigrants the registration form in a welcome basket makes clear that it's the dems' top priority. It means they want the immigrants here because they think they can use them. They are exploiting people's tragedy, if not purposely contributing to causing said tragedy for this very reason. How can anyone not see this?

The story is not fake, is true and was on the news media and the state was asked why they are putting voter registration forms in the baskets.

The state fail to answer.

Refugees enjoy all kind of benefits during their transition thanks to the generosity of the tax payers.

Settlement in housing, schooling to learn the language and a job, the tax payer pays for a few years while they get settle.

Interestingly they are given the choice to go back to their country when things are better, or keep living in the US from the tax payer generosity.

Mostly do the second choice.

Yeah, that would all be great but, since the democrat party officials don;t give a rats behind about those laws and rules they are just words to be ignored.
