The next thing you know, United Airlines will be requiring women to wear scarves on their faces.

Man. Barely 8 AM EDT and already an incredibly idiotic and stupidly hyberbolic OP. Today's gonna be a good one on ATS, I can feel it

I already heard the news, is nothing to do with costumers, but with dress policies they have for those that travel in company benefits goes for employees and families.

Nothing new, but a big story for those that have nothing else to do but create outrageous tweets in the mass media.

It's some deluded busy body feminist social justice warrior sticking her nose into other peoples business without any idea of the situation.

That's the real outrage here. This is the the behavior that's wrecking this country.

That and the dude flying with plumber's crack.

I can promise as a passenger I wouldn't give a straight toss what anyone seated was wearing, with the company or not.

I'm gonna snap some photos of a few of the slobs I see getting on, nothing like having plumber's ass 6" away from you when Mr. Droopy Sweats is trying to muscle his carryon into the overhead.

Yeah maybe I just haven't experienced anything that has really offended me on an airplane yet..... does this mean I'm lucky? I might head to the casino if so.

Law of averages. The more time on an airplane the higher the probability you will see a dirtbag. Do it long enough and one will sit next to you.

You haven't lived until you've had somebody do yoga in the aisle next to you.

And we're not even getting into the joy of having somebody groom their toenails next to you!

As much as the airline is 'technically correct' regarding the policy, here's my issue.

Who other than those employees, know they are with or represent the company?

Did they put a sign above their heads? Did they have them talk to the rest of the flight staff and crew and passengers about how great the airline was?

Was there any indication at all, that these people were anything, but regular travellers?

No.

So, why bother enforcing the rule, or having it to begin with?

Idiocy that's why.

I have seen this as well. I never understood why people think it is cool to take their shoes and socks off on a plane.

Because that is their company policy. That is the way the company wants to be represented. If you are using a free service then you need to follow their rules.

I'm sick of people wanting their free handouts but want it their way.

You can wear what you want when you pay for the ticket.

Well you know...public transportation is practically the same as being in the privacy of your own home. C'mon, stick in the mud

Oh yeah. It happens. You should try a nice long 10 hour flight to Asia. Talk about good times for stuff like that.

It's not about rules it's about common sense. It's not about handouts either. It's two people sitting on a plane, not bothering ANYBODY except for some executive's idea of what 'proper dress' is.

I find it disingenuous than an airline can claim moral high ground on how it wants it's personnel, who are not acting in any official capacity other than flying on the company aircraft, what they can and cannot wear.

Sure, they can make that rule and they can enforce it, but it still makes them stupid for doing so. Why create such a huge issue out of nothing?

It's just an appeal to authority. 'We Want you to do it this way, because we said so, that's the only reason".

It's childish and typical of the big business mentality in America anyway.

If you want to hear about some truly awful airline behavior head over to Flyertalk and check the DYKWIA (Do you know who I am!?) threads.

What is a legging? Sounds like a kind of chicken. Is it underwear or something like spandex?

Not on a plane, but the girl who sits across from me at work clips her toe nails in her cubicle and one time a nail hit me in the face. I had to think about my life for a moment before deciding not to end hers with said toenail.....
