Personally, I don't see a problem with raising the debt ceiling. Having a debt ceiling is a completely absurd concept. Not only are we the only
nation with one, but the entire existence of such a thing is due to the fact that Congress can't properly manage their authority. We should
completely eliminate the concept and let Congress delegate budget matters out to another office if they're incapable of doing it themselves.
Getting to the point where we have no deficit would be great, but I think we both know it's not happening any time soon. Not with a President who
wants to cut taxes to the point that we need 4% economic growth year over year to pay for them, and roughly $2 trillion/year in proposed new spending
increases. Cutting revenues and increasing spending isn't going to fix the deficit.
