I think Dr Dre and Ice Cube are the perfect examples of what young artists should strive for. They grew up in rough, violent neighborhoods, around
violence, gangbangers, and drug dealers. Youve never heard of them being questioned about a shooting, or getting caught with illegal firearms or
drugs. They had their music banned, protested against, and in the case of 'F the Police', even made illegal!
A couple other groups went through the same BS, 2 Live Crew, and Ice-T come to mind, but none like NWA did.
As they (Cube & Dre) got older, they used their money to do bigger and better things. LEGAL things. Too many rappers nowadays still try to live like
they're back in 'da hood'.
How many times have you heard of rappers being caught with guns or large quantities of drugs? Or being involved in shootings or robberies?
Cube & Dre did what any smart person would do, and used their money to make more money. They didnt buy a bunch of dope to try to be a ghetto
superstar, they went completely legit, and are LEGENDS that set the standards, fought for their constitutional rights, fought lawsuit after lawsuit,
initiated batlle raps (on mainstream albums), and on, and on....
If Drake had to go through a quarter of what NWA did, he would fold. IMMEDIATELY!
Fun fact: O'shea Jackson, a.k.a. Ice Cube, has been married for 25 years. According to his wife, Kimberly Woodruff, they have a wonderful marriage,
that is like a "dream come true..."
