The term " Northern Soul " derives from mainly American Soul Music which was played ( on vinyl to begin with, and later on by the performers and
artists live ) in the northern clubs of England.

The first " Northern Soul " club appeared in Manchester in 1967 called by the name " The Twisted Wheel ". Soon afterwards other clubs began to emerge
in other towns and cities of Northern England, soon spreading to The Midlands area.
The music played was recorded by mainly lesser know and more obscure American musicians, and the records they made sold in very small numbers. Hence
the rarity. They labels the records where produced on where also little know.
The height of Northern Soul was in the early 70's. The fans who attended such clubs as The Wigan Casino, The Torch and Blackpool Mecca to name a few,
had there own dress code and dance moves.
So enjoy some of the music.

maybe tomorrow i can start a thread and you and i can trade off or something. i listen to some pretty obscure and lesser known stuff and consider
myself pretty well versed in music.
