I don't see why the Democrats are playing games with this nomination.

Gorsuch seems to be a fairly reasonable pick.

This is one issue I have with the Democrats. They should be better than this and not play these political games like the Republicans do.

As an atheist I don't want him any where near the Supreme Court.

Has he made some decisions that concern you, regarding religion?

I'm all for religious liberty, but that only goes so far when it comes to government, etc.

Just stuff I've read up on him.

He's a big Scalia fan.

I can understand your concern. If I had thought that he would take us a step backwards in regards to religious freedom and the freedom from it, I would not be accepting of his SCOTUS nomination.

To me, he seems reasonable. I'll have to read up on it a bit more.

The answers that he gave seemed honest and reasonable. He answered as a judge should answer.
BUT....
We can never tell for sure what we will get until he is in there.
It could be good.... or bad.

Indeed. All we can do is hope our elected officials put the right people in place.

That is scary.
I don't really trust any of them to do the right thing.
We will just have to hope for the best at this point.

Yes, but I thinks it's BS that games like this have to be played.

The Democrats are not doing themselves any favors here.

It is wrong no doubt but it kind of hypocritical for the right to be crying about this, after cheering on the republican party for doing the same thing.

Kind of childish for the dems to be doing this. If this judge is out to attack gay rights, women rights...etc, then do what they can to keep him out but if it is just to retaliate for the republicans doing the same thing by blocking Obama's nominee, then it is wrong.

I admit he does.

Accept for Constitutional Purist.

I was an Episcopalian for a while. They're often referred to as "Catholic light", but their priest's (male/female/LGBT) can marry.

Catholic and procreation. Big deal IMO.

It doesn't matter if he seems "reasonable".

Republicans also threatened to block every Clinton nominee had she won. Link

Democrats need to filibuster every SCOTUS nominee until the FBI is done investigating Trump

I have a problem with the Constitutional Purist part as well. That has been a Right Wing term used to describe judges that are nothing more than theocratic activists.

I'm torn on that aspect. Let's say Trump is impeached. That leaves Pence to throw his pick in the mix. I'm not so sure that Pence would pick someone else.

At the same time, I do not like the games the politicians play in regards to nominees.

Always from the party of "tolerance". What is the deal with you people. The "travel ban" is really a "muslim ban" to you and that is unacceptable, but a religious litmus test for a SCOTUS appointee is expected.

Ha! Yes, this is hypocritical of anyone on the right/conservative side of things to be upset about, considering they all did it themselves to someone on the other side.

Politicians....blah!

The chosen two supreme court candidates will be appointed with the Democrats blessing or without it.

Yes, how dare any judge view that archaic feculent rag as having any sanctity, especially considering every iota of the bench's power stems directly from that old fishwrap.

edit on 23-3-2017 by burdman30ott6 because: My over eager fingers misspelled a word, likely due to my excitement over getting to use a Sideshow Bob calendar word of the day "feculent."
