So somebody at ABC news sees a rouge tweet they thought was from Trump, and they run with it.

Turns out it was a fake tweet from somebody.

Had to do with a comment about "The Wall".

Then the "cover-up" onslaught.

But I know many people just believed it anyway as usual.

LOL

ABC News Falls for Spoof Trump Twitter Handle

Dealing with mistakes has long been a fact of life for journalists. The traditional course of action is to acknowledge the mistake, correct the mistake, apologize if necessary, and then move on. But in the era of any story less than 100% accurate being labeled “fake news” the temptation to quietly expunge the mistake from existence without any acknowledgement that the mistake was made is greater than ever. Only ABC News knows its motivation for attempting to disappear an embarrassing mistake it made in a story about a proposed wall at the U.S.-Mexican border. The original version, now deleted, included a tweet from a spoof Twitter handle the ABC apparently mistook as coming from President Trump.

After a reader posted a comment to the story about the error, ABC NEWS replaced it with this version; and deleted the comments from the reader pointing out the error.

Always check your sources. It is fun to watch the MSM fall for such things though, you know, because they're a multi-million dollar conglomerate who have a huge staff that should be looking for these sorts of things.

You know someone got in trouble once they realized the error of their ways!

That's funny. Mistakes happen, but the cover up speaks volumes.

Sounds like gov't to me but both are owned by the same small elite crowd so you're probably right.

thats kinda similar to the people who immediately believed Obama met with that judge when it was just a restaurant manager. that is how fake news gets spread.

cool story.

I can understand.

When the tweet is reminiscent of something Trump would actually say, it can be confusing.

They should have fessed-up on their mistake, though.

autospell none differentiation, same as quiet, quite and quit, it was probably a 'bot what wrote that!

Still ABC was a bit naughty though.

They didn't 'fess up'. They deleted a comment referencing their error after they replaced the article.

Always quick with those image macros that do nothing for the discussion at hand.

Real news will change mistakes. Fake news will not.

No #. That's why I said they should have fessed-up.

Honestly, I can see how it would be hard to tell fake trump tweets from real ones. Damn near identical in content.
