Erdogan's lost the plot, or is this a well planned war of words (one sided) to stoke up Turkish nationalism and make him look good to his domestic audience? Probably a bit of both, methinks.

Considering Erdogan is wanting more autocracy, one could paint his trajectory as closer to fascism than enlightenment, but hey ho.

Shush. Don't mention the Armenian Genocide.

I mentioned a few years back that Turkey would be a sought after gateway to the middle east and was mocked for it.

Can't help but think I might have been right.

Erdogan seems to be happily walking into a hostile takeover.

Is he really trying to keep power or hand it over?

The little man with his moustache...
I guess we need to forbid little men with moustaches to get into power!

This little wannabe Sultan is getting boring, copying Hitlers "Machtergreifung" from A to Z and calling others Nazis... YAAAAWN!

Hey, little man from the Bosporus:

TALK TO THIS HAND!

The problem is, it´s around 50% of the people. And if they really like him and his actions or if they just are afraid of the consequences if not, that´s the next question. Many are Pro-Erdolf because they don´t want to lose their job, are afraid because of their families, are afraid to end up in jail, for nothing. Just for not supporting Erdolf, the little wannabe Führer.

That´s why he is building and enemy from the outside, the "Nazis that rule whole Europe". He thinks that he can get the votes he needs to win the dictatorship referendum. That´s why he is barking like a sausage dog, attacking everybody, that wouldn´t dance to his music, with that Nazi shyte, being one the biggest Nazis of our time himself.
Ridiculous! Laughable!

It seems he thinks that the Europe wants to become part of Turkey, that Europe would need Turkey, and not the other way around. Megalomania at it´s finest! The best thing would be we would just let him talk and ignore him. After three days of non-observance he would explode.

Erdogan's comments about the gas chambers are hardly made from a position of moral authority. The man is trying to set himself up as a dictator, so it hardly seems fitting for him to be handing out aspersions against Europe given his current activities.

However, his BS is being covered by the tiniest nugget of truth. That nugget is the rise of the far right in Europe, which is becoming a far more obvious problem over the last couple of decades (largely as a result of dehumanisation campaigns by allegedly centrist governments, to justify their dirty profit wars in the Middle East and elsewhere). While it is by no means the case that the majority, or even a large minority of people in Europe would ever want to see the return of the Nazis, it is true that there is an underground of far right extremists, trying to get the public on side, trying to get the least brazenly thuggish of their number elected in key positions.

What Erdogan does not understand, perhaps because his awareness of history is lacking for some reason, is that this hardcore of underground thugs and savages will be terminated if they EVER try to take any meaningful power for themselves. We, the people of good conscience and sound moral, of decent upbringing, proper education in history, those of us whose grandfathers fought the Nazis and beat them despite being massively outnumbered most of the time, we will not permit our nations to be overrun by fascism. We will, without relent, crush the fascist, destroy the fascist, we will burn their banners, destroy their meeting places, we will chase them down and see them sundered in twain, if they EVER dare to try to stain our history with their disgusting tyranny again.

If any nation in Europe is stupid enough to rekindle the torch held by Hitler, it WILL be struck down, burned to the ground, razed and urinated on with absolute prejudice. None shall mourn it.

some of the westerners are typical westerners, they always seem to love this idea that they have the right to change other nations leaders just because they don't like them

Here's a good summary of the Erdogan reforms. Essentially, loading powers onto the President. That's giving himself powers. This at a time when the political opposition is being restrained by increasing authoritarianism by (er) Erdogan.

Critics say that the reforms concentrate too many powers in the hands a leader who has increasingly displayed authoritarian tendencies. They point to anti-terrorism campaigns that have decimated an opposition pro-Kurdish party, the closure and government takeover of dozens of media outlets, the detention of more than 100 journalists, and hundreds of defamation lawsuits brought against individuals who “insulted” the president.

They also say that holding a referendum when the country is under a state of emergency prevents the opposition from campaigning freely against the proposed changes.

I am not sure of the point that you are trying to make. Are you saying that Turkey is safe and free while France is so jacked up that they have to have guards with guns at public places because of Islamic Terrorism?

gas chambers

oh those scary gas chambers. they will jump out of their 'replica' created bases and fly around the world to eat you if you do not eat your veggies at night.

gas chambers, the scariest boobad on earth, the newz and books and movies and media sure do a good job at 'telling' me how terrifying they are, at any moment, they will rise from their 'replica' graves and chomp down on me.

2 things comes mind in relation to your wager ;

First : once there was a ban on all alcohol and tabacco & hashish in Istanbul , this was about 400 years ago and it failed miserably because people didn't like it.

Second : Turks also go to beaches too .

In Turkey you can have beaches for sexes or unisex beaches or even muslim/jewish/christian beaches ; no body gives a toss .

Freedom is the name of Erdogan's game . I understand that his game is not easy to understand ; the World has 53 Countries that will line up behind Erdogan .

That is in and of itself is a Conspiracy worth talking about .

Gatestone and zerohedge.. Didn't Breitcrap have anything to add?

Really, there are more sources than that about this megalomaniac.
Yeah, we don't like it if somebody tries to rush a part of Germany's population for a mini-revolution.

Could you elaborate this a little more, please?

Like, how becoming a president-for-lifetime is a step towards freedom?

Or which 53 countries EXACTLY are behind Erdogans plans?
