The message being given out in North Korea these days concerning hair is a simple one: "Be Like Kim". The communist country has become alarmed by long hair and has ordered the population to have a more "socialist" style and keep it two inches or less. An exception will be made for men who require comb overs

SEOUL, South Korea - The order to shaggy-haired North Korean men couldn't be clearer: Get a trim like Kim.

The reclusive communist country is waging a hair war, telling its male population to lose the long locks, cut the coiffures and mow the mane to conform to "socialist style" — no longer than two inches.

Even hair-challenged, authoritarian leader Kim Jong Il has trimmed his famous pompadour. One exception, however: Comradely comb-overs are OK for older men.

The short-hair campaign actually was launched in October, but it reached new lengths Monday when state-run Central TV began ridiculing nonconformists as unhygienic, anti-socialist fools. It comes as North Korea's dictatorship struggles to tighten its control over information, monitor its population and dictate cultural tastes.

This would be a really funny story if they were not so serious about it. It clearly shows how cartoon like the regime in North Korea is. It also highlights the danger in dealing with a man who is quite simply crazy.

Interesting you mention that it's cartoonish, considering that it's a well known fact that Kim Jong Il owns the largest private collection of Daffy Duck films:

So you can't have long hair except for if your bald, in which case you can't have short hair...

Congratulations North Korea, seldom if ever do we see such a wonderful example of ludicrous,pompous,self important stupidity, its better than the Fox comedy channel, enough to give a good belly laugh to the most serious commentator...

Ok, this one is totally insane.

I've kept a High and Tight for years, as I find hair by and large to be a waste of time.

But this is totally retarded. You'd think he'd have something else to concern himself with... you know, something of VALUE...

I guess it gives a whole new meaning to "Die hippie scum!!" ?

I would fight to the death for my mullet,there are just some things you can't take from a man. It is one thing that he starves there family but cutting hair is way over the edge.

Well it seems on one is argueing the point that he is a little bit crazy. But the comb over exception is nice, after all, it works for Homer Simpson.

Sounds like Kim is just about to go off the deep end. Of all things he puts his focus on the "state of ones hair" This should be far down on a very, very long list. He should try feeding his people and trying to make peace with the rest of the world.
