That's awesome jacy! Such a lovely encouragement. I get pulled into a contest when it tickles me in such a way that I simply Have to write it... That time, from the time I see a new contest is up and then I get sucked into a story... The story is what matters, not the stars or flags. Its after I've hit post that I start to worry about those little things... But that's just cus having that little accolade would mean such a lot haha!

You are someone who should have their status. I think you're a great writer.

For me it was a big deal to get that title, lol.
I've never thought my story was the best though, each time I've entered.
I read what other people come up with feel like I should be writing children's books.

I love reading the stories, and I love the humour (and all my friends here).
It's what keeps me coming back.

Us writers are the minority group here...well, fictional short stories I mean.

I think you also deserve your 'Writer' status.

Yes definitely! This is my favorite place on ATS Love seeing what everyone comes up with, love getting tingles from reading things that seem new but oddly familiar...

To all the losers (me being the biggest one), it's OK, use this as motivation and inspiration to create more and try harder next time around. Being one of the first 5 entries, I had no idea that so many more people would join and have such amazing entries so I've already accepted my loss. Others are much more deserving.

..But next time around I'm going all-in!!

That was the whole point of my OP.

Thread writers get noticed over time with consistently good/interesting threads.
Short story writers too, though the readers are a small percentage of the membership.

Keep writing...keep being inspired.
This last contest got a lot of attention because so many of us wanted to see what we could come up with.
Here, have some "Hot Chocolate"...

I know I know.. I didn't mean it in a derogatory sense but more of a comical one but I also wanted to elaborate on your OP by trying to motivate and inspire the ones that may feel like they "lost"

At one time, a bunch of us (who are all friends now) were all up against each other in a contest or two.
Over time, those of us who persevered earned our status (and yeah it sucked at the time to not receive it).
I honestly haven't done much lately to keep my title, so have reinvested my time in this forum.

Every story has a unique twist on the topic, and no two are even close in storyline. How do you compare a fluff piece to a serious one? A LOT of it is timing.
Most of the writers are here on weekdays, or so it seems to me.

Very well put. I wrote about six stories before I finally found the bottle to post one.

A comment from someone who enjoyed what you've done is a bigger buzz than 20 flags for me.

I don't know if I'll ever win a comp, but it's a hell of a feeling to publish and think, "Yeah, I got across exactly what I wanted."
