I always think San Fran looks very cool when I see documentaries or movies shot on location there.

The Chicago pic looked like a skyscraper at first to me, lol. Must be the fog/smog I guess.

You're seeing it from almost directly above so you're looking straight down. It's an odd perspective which you obviously don't normally see.
